The New Zealanders carried the bag from 1999 to 2011. They were partners in 13 of his 15 major wins. Woods fired him after going through a sеriеs of personal and professional troubles. After that incident, their relationship became a center of discussion. One of the bitter moments came after Williams shook hands with Adam Scott in 2011 for the US Open, after obtaining permission from Woods. However, it is said that the golfer changed his mind afterward.
Tough decision to end Tiger Woods-Steve Williams’s bitter-sweet relationship
The caddie successfully continued his career and began working with former World No. 1, Adam Scott. However, his relationship with Tiger Woods suddenly changed for the worse, and the scariest part came to light after Scott won at Bridgestone while working with Steve Williams.
Williams was a constant companion to Woods until everything came crashing down one day. In a tumultuous turn of events later that year, Woods faced allegations of infidelity with his wife, Erin, and soon after, he fired Steve.

But Steve could not leave Scott hanging, as he was a man of his word. After his tournament with Scott, it is said that Woods fired him. “I had no idea I was going to get fired over it. I also hadn’t worked a lot. Not that I needed the money, but I wanted to work. I was told after U.S. Open that I no longer had a job,” said Williams.
However, it was a tough decision for Woods to fire Steve, and he acknowledged that fact in a 2011 interview. He said, “For me personally, it was a tough decision to make to go in a different direction in my professional life. But as far as personally, I don’t know how that could happen the way it did. But it did, and here we are.”
But things took a turn after a rumor made the rounds that Steve was dissatisfied because a black man had fired him. He was dubbed a racist by people, as outlets claimed that he was heard saying to the audience: “How dare this black so-and-so fire me?” And when Mr. T was asked about this incident, he said, “Steve’s certainly not a racist. There’s no doubt about that. It was a comment that certainly shouldn’t have been made and certainly one that he wished he didn’t make.”
