Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson are probably the top two names currently in the golfing world. Hence, there has been a constant rivalry between them, especially during the early days of their careers. But even though Tiger was always in a league of his own winning back-to-back trophies, a prominent golf author recently revealed why Tiger considered Phil a threat.
Bob Harig recently on a podcast, revealed the reason why Phil was a threat to Tiger. “Tiger’s rival might have been Jack or history. And he did not look at Phil as a rival, but I don’t believe that,” said Bob on the Chasing Majors podcast.

“He saw Phil as a threat, certainly after Phil won his first Masters. But the fact that they weren’t paired in majors more is unfortunate,” revealed Bob. “I think it’s our loss. You know that didn’t happen more because there’s plenty of majors where they were close.”

Tiger Woods had been away from golf for a while after he suffered multiple injuries in a solo car accident last year. However, the 46-year-old golfer has now made a comeback after a long sabbatical. We saw him competing at the Augusta National earlier this month. However, the legendary golfer was still suffering from pain, which held him back from giving his best.

Meanwhile, the 2022 PGA Championship is all set to begin on May 16th. And Tiger recently decided to scout the golf course for the upcoming major championship. He played a round of golf with his close friend and had Southern Hills’ director of Golf on the bag to explain the changes made to the golf course. Hence, this shows that Woods is serious about not only playing but also wants to win the event.

Notably, Phil Mickelson has also registered his name for the PGA Championship. He has been away from golf for about three months now after his comments about the PGA Tour and the rival league went viral. However, Phil is probably looking to defend his title, but his association with the rival league might hurt his chances.
