Can you believe it’s already been a month since the new season kicked off? We’ve seen some solid wins, but there have been a few big names missing from the action. That won’t be the case at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, though! This PGA Tour’s second Signature Event of 2025 is looking stacked, with some major names making it to the list of players. With 80 of the world’s best golfers in the field for this no-cut event, the $20 million purse is definitely grabbing attention. The winner will take home a whopping $3.6 million. But it’s not just about the cash—there are 700 FedEx Cup points on the line, plus Ryder Cup qualification points for those who’ve got their eyes set on making it to Bethpage Black in September.
So yeah, there’s a lot at stake here. But the real question is who’s going to take home the trophy and all the perks that come with it?
5. Hideki Matsuyama

If you watched this year’s Sentry tournament, there’s no way you missed Hideki Matsuyama stealing the show. The 11-time PGA Tour winner kicked off his season with a jaw-dropping performance, including one of the best shots of the tournament. On the par-4 third hole, Matsuyama holed out from 107 yards for an eagle, extending his lead over Collin Morikawa to three strokes. That’s not it, he kept along with the momentum throughout the game, setting a new PGA Tour record with a ridiculous 35-under-par 257.
Now, his next couple of events didn’t exactly attain the same feat. He wrapped up the Sony Open tied for 16th and the Farmers Insurance Open at T32—not bad, but not Sentry-level magic either. But now he is here at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. And the good part? He isn’t a stranger to the course, he was here last year when he finished T71, so he’s got something to prove. So don’t be surprised if the World No. 5 snags the victory in this event, adding another victory to his collection.

4. Ludvig Aberg
Åberg is definitely one to keep an eye on, and even the former World No. 1 Luke Donald is a fan of his game. He might only have one PGA Tour win so far, but his performances have been hard to ignore. Remember his tour debut at the RSM Classic back in 2023? Not only did he take home the trophy, but he also set a record for the lowest score over the final two rounds. Fast forward to this season, and he has stayed true to his potential. He finished T5 at The Sentry, and at the Farmers Insurance Open, he was this close to winning, before an illness dropped him to T42 by the end. And let’s not forget about the TGL. In that tech-savvy, high-tech field where everyone’s still figuring out the best way to make it work, Åberg made history by sinking the first hole-in-one in TGL history with a clutch putt, giving his team, Bay Golf Club, a huge boost.
Now, as he tees it up at the second Signature Event of the season, who knows? Maybe he’ll keep that momentum going and add another win to his growing resume.
3. Collin Morikawa
Yes, he missed the Sentry’s trophy with just one shot behind Matsuyama, but he did play exceptionally well too. That near-miss might be just the fuel he needs to grab the win here at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. The six-time PGA Tour winner had a winless 2024, and you can bet he’s hungry for a victory. Last year at this same event, Morikawa finished T14—not bad, but we all know he can do way better. He’s sitting at 4th in the OWGR right now, even without a win in the past year. You can look at that however you want, but one thing’s for sure: the guy’s got the potential to grab a trophy.
So, with the AT&T event coming up, who knows? This could be the one where Morikawa finally gets that elusive win.
2. Rory McIlroy
Yes, the World No.3 is the mix, and he’s coming in with some solid momentum. He just secured a joint fourth-place finish at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, carding a final-round 66 and finishing just three strokes behind the winner. Not bad, right? Last year, he played 19 events and won two of them, showing he’s still very much in the hunt.
Now, McIlroy doesn’t have a ton of history at Pebble Beach—his last time in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am was in 2024, where he finished 66th with a 2-under score. But based on his recent form, it’s clear he’s more than capable of improving on that result, or maybe even grabbing the win. After all, he’s World No. 3 for a reason.
1. Scottie Scheffler

Scheffler’s name is one you can’t ignore, and honestly, the betting list feels incomplete without him. When he’s on the course, it’s almost like the event becomes one-sided because, well, he’s World No. 1 for a reason.
He had an incredible season last year—playing in 19 events and winning seven of them. He also finished runner-up at the Texas Children’s Houston Open and the Charles Schwab Challenge, not to mention snagging the gold medal at the Paris Olympics. Pretty impressive, right?
His last appearance was back in December at the Hero World Challenge, but we all know the story—during Christmas, he had a mishap at a dinner and ended up needing surgery. That’s why he missed the Sentry, The Sony Open, and the American Express. But he’s been spotted hitting the gym recently, which means he’s back on track.

The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am will be his first event since the surgery, and who knows—he might come back with a bang. Wouldn’t be the first time!
