

Sports personalities have always been avid lovers of golf. The golf world has seen various athletes enjoy golfing. One such athlete is Ash Barty. The 25-year-old was also seen attending the 2019 Presidents Cup. However, after retiring from cricket and tennis, is golf the next sport that she wants to play?

Barty, former cricket and tennis player shocked the world after announcing her retirement. The World Number One from Australia apart from playing cricket and tennis also loves to play golf. She was present at the 2019 Presidents Cup in Melbourne, and back in 2021, she spoke about her views related to golf. It is interesting to see how she loves to play different sports. She is truly an all-rounder.

Ash Barty spoke about her thoughts on golf in an interview with Golf Digest back in 2021. She said, “It doesn’t mean a hell of a lot. “But still, the competitor in me wanted to do well [at Brookwater] and not knowing what to expect was a really strange feeling, but something I really enjoyed.”
She won the Brookwater Club’s Woman’s Championship in 2020, finishing with a pretty decent handicap index of 3.9.

She added, “It’s funny listening to other golfers suggest I could turn pro at golf if I committed to it. I think two sports is enough. Tennis is obviously the focus and cricket was a bit of fun, but golf for me is a hobby, and I love it.”
Moreover, the 25-year-old tennis sensation also crossed paths with Tiger Woods at the 2019 Presidents Cup. And she even hit a target from 60 meters away.

While speaking about her golf game, Woods said, “She’s got a great swing. Are you kidding me?” However, in her retirement announcement, Barty did not mention golf as a dream she would like to accomplish. Who knows, maybe she changes her mind, and we can see her swinging hard on the golf course.
Cricket career of Ash Barty
Prior to building a career in tennis, Ash Barty was a cricket fan and has also tried swinging the bat. She played club cricket for Western Suburbs District Cricket Club and even scored a fiery 63 not out from 60 balls in her just second club game. As a result, she earned a contract with Brisbane Heat for the 2015-16 season. Ash Barty featured in the first game of the Women’s Big Bash League 39 from 27 balls. She played nine out of 14 games for Brisbane Heat in the season.
