The first day of the Solheim Cup started off with a bang for Team USA, as they had a splendid win at the foursomes with a score of 4-0, where Team USA won all four matches against Team Europe. The LPGA star Lexi Thompson paired up with Megan Khang in the first round of the foursomes and showcased a stellar performance that morning. But all was not as well as one would hope that day!

Thompson’s gameplay faltered a bit later during the day. This resulted in disappointment in the four-ball session later in the afternoon, where Europe had the lead with a 1-up thanks to a mishap by the 28-year-old. Now, as Thompson’s shank moment goes viral, the LPGA star has gone on to receive some harsh criticism. But her colleagues have a back, and one in particular was the soon-to-be mom, Jessica Korda, who flaunted her protective instincts for her fellow Americans!

Jessica Korda has been a part of the Solheim Cup for three of the past editions, 2013, 2019, and 2021. But this year, she is not a part of the USA Team this year. The reason is her hiatus from the sport since she is soon expecting her first child! A few months back she even posted an update about the baby’s expected arrival and hinted that she is expecting a boy child.

Despite not being in Spain, the American is supporting her squad, both in spirit and now, in the case of Thompson, quite literally! When it came to Korda’s notice that one of the Team USA members was being subjected to harsh criticism, the LPGA girl couldn’t hold herself back and took to social media

On Twitter, she wrote, “So sad seeing golf media , yet again, shred Lexi. It’s easy writing about other people’s mistakes. It’s Golf, bad shots happen- give the girl a break. She grows the game more than anyone on tour… And she’s a great player!!” Thus, the golfer takes a stand for Lexi.

While Jessica Korda is not a part of the Solheim Cup this year, her affinity and love for the team are evident in her post. In need, the mama would always back her squad. But, in the first place, what adversity caused Lexi Thompson to receive such cruelty?

Lexi Thompson was paired with Lilia Vu for the four-ball match. In the match, Lexi tried to chip a shot on hole 18 from a terrible hillside in the rough to score an eagle. But as a twist of fate, the shot veered to the right of the club’s face and led the ball to roll down of the sloppy greens.

Thus, the adversity caused the opponent team to win, where Leona Maguire was paired up with Georgia Hall. Later the same day, in an interview when the golfer was asked to talk about the situation, she refused to respond on the same. She only uttered, “I don’t need to comment on that”. Thus, it was quite relevant that the LPGA phenom was ashamed of herself and didn’t want to remember it.
