If the words of a LIV Golf general manager are to be believed, some PGA Tour pros are eager to enter the PIF-funded side. Tony Finau’s deal is all but set, per some reports. The 35-year-old with six PGA Tour titles is set to rekindle his partnership with Jon Rahm at Legion XIII.

Of course, it’s not confirmed. But think about this. Almost every player who was rumored to join LIV Golf last year has either joined or accepted that they were in touch with LIV officials. The rumor mill has started churning again. And these three names stand out as of early December 2024.

Viktor Hovland is apparently regretting his LIV Golf decision

So, the six-time PGA Tour winner has had a harrowing year. Currently, Viktor Hovland is recuperating from an injury teeing off for the last time in the Tour Championship this season. PIF officials knocked on his door last year, but he refused to join the party. Per the same general manager whose phone has ‘been ringing nonstop’, some players are heavily regretting their decision to not join LIV. Hovland might be one of them. The Norwegian hasn’t teed off in the last few DPWT events citing unspecified injury.

Thomas Detry might join his fellow Europeans

Per Golf Lover UK, Thomas Detry is another name on Greg Norman’s radar. The Belgian International has netted four top-tens this season in the PGA Tour. But the 31-year-old might join the Cleeks GC as the all-European squad is on the hunt for a new member after Kalle Samooja’s relegation. Cleeks is captained by Martin Kaymer. Richard Bland and Adrian Meronk are on the roster. Detry and Meronk share the same coach, Jerome Theunis.

Adam Scott is looking for a lighter schedule, which LIV Golf offers

Did you notice that Adam Scott wasn’t in any tournament in his home country? The Aussie International, 44, explained he wanted to spend more time with his family. That might not be a telltale sign of LIV Golf, but Scott is a lucrative prospect for Greg Norman.

There are only two problems. One, Scott is a PGA Tour Player Director and part of the transaction committee that oversees the day-to-day proceedings of the PIF-PGA Tour agreement. He might not want to tarnish his polished image by switching sides now. Secondly, Cam Smith’s Ripper GC is likely to retain Lucas Herbert. So, even if Adam Scott joins, he has to look for a different team.

Currently, LIV Golf is in flux. Greg Norman is set to leave the throne for a more behind-the-scenes role in the Saudi-backed circuit. Whereas, contracts of some veterans are up for renewal. Meanwhile, the transfer window is also open. Dustin Johnson’s 4Aces GC has already snatched Thomas Pieters from RangeGoats. That leaves two spots open in RangeGoats as Bubba Watson is also eliminated. The LIV Golf Promotions will only allow one player to enter the PIF-backed league. So, expect a few new faces by Greg Norman’s side next year.
