Tiger Woods‘ fans have one more thing to cheer for this weekend. The 15x major winner’s most iconic TW13’s ‘Masters Edition’ is getting a revamp. Nike decided to celebrate the ten years since its initial release by revamping the design. Woods first signed a five-year deal with Nike for a reported fee of $40 million in 1996. Since then, the veteran golfer has renewed the sponsorship agreement four times, the last being in 2013.

With his signature shoe line, Woods also ushered in a new era in golf. The Nike TW Series was a first in the golf world as well, in the vein of Adidas Stan Smith, Air Jordan, Nike Zoom Kobe, and Nike Zoom LeBron II. Although it’s not immediately clear what shoes the veteran golfer will wear in Albany, let’s take a look at five of the best shoes worn by the legend in his two-decade-long career.

Nike TW1

The TW1s are undoubtedly one of the most popular and iconic golf shoes of all time. And that’s saying it not just for Tiger Woods fans but for golf communities worldwide. The sleek spiked golf shoe was the talk of the town when it came out in 2012. Interestingly, Woods himself requested a shoe that gave him the same amount of comfort as his running shoes. The result was this iconic TW13 that takes the Nike Free platform to a new level. Now, Nike has decided to give it a makeover and re-release it as “1st Trur Tiger Retro” on December 8.

Nike TW14

Next in line for TW 13, the 14 series was a little break away from the traditional golf shoes. Woods sported this at the Players Championship in 2013, which he won by two shots. The wider forefoot of the red and black shoe allowed more movement of the toe, and the padded rear helped it stay comfortable.

Nike TW8

17 years ago, Nike released the SP TW-8. In 2006, this was quite the sensation as the shoe, for the first time, featured Nike Golf’s latest footwear technology, the Nike Footwear Platform. Notably, Woods himself was involved in the project with Nike’s designers, testing several prototypes before the release.

Nike TW17

Tiger Woods returned to the 2018 Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas wearing this pair of shoes after ten months of professional hiatus. However, the double Velcro trap became a matter of debate, polarizing shoe lovers on its utility. Regardless, fans kept solace in the fact that their favorite star was closely involved in designing the shoe along with Nike’s in-house shoe designers.

FootJoy Series

Golf fans witnessed the 15-time Major winner veer off from his signature line for the first time last year. It wasn’t due to any sponsorship disagreement with Nike, however. Rather, injury forced him to pick FootJoy Premier Packard in the 2022 Masters. Once again at this year’s Genesis Invitational and the Masters, the 47-year-old golfer sported FootJoy.

Woods has only played in two tournaments this year, with his last outing coming in April at the Masters, where he had to withdraw due to a foot injury. It remains to be seen if he sticks with FootJoy this time as well. But some sources speculate he might be rocking the FootJoy once again.
