Heading into the Open Championship in Liverpool, a PGA Tour Pro managed to hit the driving range in terrible conditions. During one of the practice sessions, the golfer, despite the pouring rain, completed his session. But he was not alone in his fight with mother nature.

His girlfriend stood in the same condition, holding onto an umbrella, smiling, and not complaining. The golf world, and fans are in awe of the player’s dedication, and his partner’s investment. And, everything aside, how does one pull a swimmer away from water?

A heartwarming sight indeed

They met at the Pepperdine University, and made their relationship public in January, 2023. While the atmosphere in California was sunny, it was the rain at the Open Championship that highlighted the couple more. 

He was a three-time winner of golf tournaments at his university, proving to be the best amateur athlete in the sport. And his girlfriend was setting impressive new school swimming records with her team in the 200 meter medley relay at Pacific Coast swim and Dive Conference Championships in 2019. Even while making their relationship public, Theegala expressed being in love with a fellow athlete.

His girlfriend selflessly stood in the pouring rain while her partner practised. It is a testament to the amazing relationship they share. And that display awed the fans.

The couple welcomed the year together during a vacation in Maui, and if old sayings are any true, the start of the year will set the course for the rest of it too. Sahith Theegala is yet to bring home a PGA Tour win. But he has tasted victories otherwise.

He managed to finish at T9 at the Masters this year, and scored a fourth-place title earlier at the Farmers Insurance Open. Given his current form, it will be exciting to see him play at the Open Championship.

Rain and wind seem to have a liking for Sahith Theegala

He did put on a good show of his skills at the Masters Tournament, earlier this April. Interestingly, the course, then as well, witnessed the rain and wind. And his left recovery shot at the Wells Fargo Championship was so good that it went viral.

Theegala’s current Official World Golf Rankings is 35, a huge jump from 300 last year. He is in good shape and motivated to make his mark in the upcoming tournament. And with his partner’s support on his end, the signs for his journey ahead seem quite good; irrespective of rains or shine.

Seems like it is time for the California-born player to receive the hype he deserves ahead of the prestigious Open Championship in Royal Liverpool Golf Club.
