Since the time TGL was announced, fans have been eager to know if Tiger Woods, the brain behind the tech-infused league, will be an active part of this or not. A few days ago, TGL announced the field that comprises some of the biggest names in golf right now. But the 47-year-old golfer’s name was conspicuously absent.

Will it stay that way? Probably not. It’s Tiger Woods’ league, after all. But all the speculations and prognosis of his injuries aside, there is a huge chance that Woods might lead a team of his own. Not just any team—the team of his hometown, the ‘golfing capital’ of the world. Jupiter, the little Mecca that sits in a tiny corner of Florida, is slated to have its own team, and who is better to lead that team than the 15x Major winner himself?

Is Tiger Woods finally getting his own team?

So far, only five teams have been announced by TGL. But Golf Magazine’s Sean Zak has dug up an interesting secret. Apparently, there is a sixth team that’s yet to be announced.

Wood’s close friend and business partner, Rory McIlroy, is leading the team at Boston Common Golf, while Collin Morikawa is part of the Los Angeles team, and Wood’s close buddy, Justin Thomas, will headline the Atlanta team. The other two teams, New York and Bay Area, have yet to announce their squads.

Zak posted on his X (formerly Twitter) handle that there is a sixth team in the TGL that is yet to be announced. But if you look at the trademark filings, you can see there is a team named ‘Jupiter Links GC.’ Zak wrote on Twitter, “To date, TGL has announced five teams. But recent trademark fillings indicate ‘Jupiter Links GC’ would be sixth.

It’s unlikely that Woods might leave for the other two teams when his hometown, Jupiter, is going to have its own team. Moreover, Jon Rahm‘s absence has also opened up a spot on the field.

However, one player’s absence has also raised much speculation. Jon Rahm, the first player to be associated with TGL after Woods and McIlroy, has taken the golf world by surprise by pulling out of the league. Although, as per both parties, it’s due to commitment issues, that hasn’t stopped the rumors that Rahm might be headed toward LIV Golf. Interestingly, Woods’ team-based golf league is also seen as his answer to the PIF-funded league.
