Sahith Theegala is known for his fiery competitiveness, but during the second round of the Valspar Championship, that fire briefly turned into frustration. Standing on the tee box of the par-three fourth hole at the Copperhead Course, Theegala watched his shot drift right of the green—and he wasn’t happy about it. What followed was a moment that got the golf world talking. The 27-year-old dropped his club in frustration, then picked it up and hurled it across the tee box, making it clear he expected better from himself. While some fans understood his reaction, others were quick to criticize, with a few even calling on the PGA Tour to take action against the rising star.
Despite the heated moment, Theegala kept his composure where it mattered most. Avoiding the bunker, he was able to get up and down with a clutch 13-foot putt to save par. Now, the debate rages on—was this just a passionate competitor showing his frustration, or did Theegala cross the line? Well, his biggest supporter took the matter into her own hands!
Juju R Chan shared a GRWM on Instagram. In the video, she discussed what happened at the course. “If you know my boyfriend or you follow golf, you probably know that he’s a pretty cutesy, demure guy. He’s very humble and very chill. Typically not a very reactive person. If you know him outside of golf, he is even more chill of a person. So this kind of behavior is definitely not the norm for him,” she began. It is true indeed. Remember when Sahith Theegala openly admitted to being an introvert? Back in 2022, he sat down for an interview and shared that side of himself, but it’s his down-to-earth personality that has truly won over fans. A year later, after breaking into the top 30 in the Official World Golf Ranking, he didn’t boast about his success—he downplayed it.

Instead of arguing that he deserved a higher ranking, he insisted he should be lower, saying, “I’m not. I’m overrated. You’re telling me there are only 28 guys better than me? No way. There are parts of my game that are good. But then other parts suck.” Then, there’s his unforgettable moment at the 2024 Tour Championship that solidified his reputation for honesty. On the par-4 third hole, Theegala’s drive landed in a fairway bunker. As he took his backswing for the approach shot, he thought he might have brushed the sand. Instead of ignoring it, he immediately called over a rules official to report the possible infraction. The result? A two-shot penalty.
Coming back to what Juju was saying, she had no idea about what happened. “After the round he was like, oh my club throw is getting viral. I was like, what club throw? Like from this week. He was like, yeah, um, on four. He showed it to me, and I couldn’t help a laugh. Honestly, it’s pretty funny. I mean he’s straight-up Javelined that thing and the best part is that he got up and down for par on that hole. He was not pleased after the fact that he did that and he can get fined for that. So yeah, hopefully, no more of those in the future,” she added.

Sahith Theegala wasn’t the only player to let his emotions show at Copperhead this week. Even Adam Hadwin messed up when he posted a double-bogey on Friday on his 10th hole of the day, and in the process of trying to make the cut, Hadwin smashed his club into the grass. But he didn’t just hit grass—he hit a sprinkler, which immediately began spraying water in all directions. Another one was Patton Kizzire.

PGA Tour Pro grabs negative attention at the Copperhead Course
Patton Kizzire had a moment to forget at the Valspar Championship, and it wasn’t just because of his scorecard. During the opening round at Copperhead, frustration got the better of him in a way that had both fans and commentators buzzing. It all unraveled on the par-three 15th. After a tough start that included a bogey on his first hole, Kizzire was hoping to steady the ship. But when he missed a five-foot putt and carded a three-putt bogey, his patience ran out. In a fit of frustration, he dropkicked his putter, sending it flying a good 20 yards across the green.
The aftermath? A visibly bent putter shaft and an awkward situation. Forced to improvise, Kizzire grabbed a wedge to tap in his final putt. Unfortunately, the struggles didn’t stop there. He went on to bogey the next hole and managed only a par at 17 before ultimately withdrawing with a back injury. The moment quickly became a talking point, with Golf Channel’s Gary Koch joking about Kizzire’s “NFL audition” and fellow commentator Brad Faxon likening the club launch to a 20-yard field goal. For a player who won on the Tour just six months ago, this season has been anything but smooth, with six missed cuts in seven starts before this week’s WD.
