The Ladies European Tour (LET) has made an exciting announcement to the golf world. This appears consistent with the footsteps of the PGA Tour, which has recently become tech-friendly, with its ambitious TGL project. However, the current LET update significantly differs from what the TGL is trying to do.
While the Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy-led TGL has used tech to transform the whole format of the sport and experiment with it, the LET’s recent update talks about elevating the game. It looks like the tour is attempting to improve the efficiency using tech aid. A recent tweet from the tour speaks about this initiative.

There are fans of golf who sometimes express their disappointment at how women’s golf tends to get lesser importance in the sport. This announcement might cheer them up. On November 13, the Ladies European Tour declared their partnership with a tech organization.
Upgame is an organization that specializes in golf analytics and runs the Upgame mobile application, which offers golf statistics. The team claims it to be the easiest app to use for receiving analytical insights on golf. LET will now collaborate with the tech company to work on data insights that can improve the quality of the digital outputs received.
To quote the tweet, the partnership “will further our goals of elevating the women’s game & enhancing digital output by providing data insights and statistical analysis for the LET & LETAS.” For the unversed, the LET Access Series is the official development tour for the LET.

It’s not quite clear whether the enhancements would be more on the side of offering fans insight on the sport, or if the data would benefit the players more to analyze their own game. However, it is evident that this is a step in a positive direction for the tour and women’s golf.
Also, did you notice that the tweet comes with #raiseourgame? The hashtag can often be seen in many of the social media posts of LET golf. It marks the movement that the tour started a few years back.
Short flashback to the hashtag
In June 2020, a video was uploaded on the LET’s YouTube channel. The video spoke about the challenges that women golfers face day in and day out. The hope that the Mondays offer and the threats that Thursdays throw their way.
It was a call from the players to themselves to raise their game. The video served as a dose of motivation for the golfers who had several events canceled because of the pandemic that shook the world during the time.
