Several new changes are taking place in the golf world. Even new leagues are competing with the regal league, the PGA Tour. Like last year, LIV Golf got included in the roster, but since it’s a Saudi-backed league, people needed to appreciate and welcome the league properly. As a rival of the LIV league, Tiger Woods backed the TGL league.

There are several players who have promised their participation in the league. But with all this, a question arises: will these players get credited with OWGR points after their tournament participation, or will they follow the fate of LIV Golf, given that the Saudi-backed Tour has been rejected by the OWGR association?

Tiger Woods TGL is a tech-based league, and this association looks forward to the future of golf with other advanced facilities. In this great venture, the Hall of Famer joined in with his old friend Rory McIlroy as well.

Not just Rory, but one of the TGL teams of Alexis Ohanian, a former LPGA Pro Michelle Wie West, and also the American soccer player Alex Morgan, joined hands as investors. Thus, people are gradually taking an interest.

Even a list of top-notch players has promised their participation in the six TGL teams (with 24 players), with 4 players in each team but three playing in a week. New names like Sahith Theegala, Cam Young, and Keegan Bradley have joined the team, as per a recent tweet. But will these players play for only money and no OWGR points? Or will they be the PGA Tour’s next OWGR competitor?

As of now, no reports have yet addressed the topic of whether TGL will be credited OWGR points. But as far as LIV Golf is concerned, their dream of getting points has been forsaken perpetually.

As many already know, last September all the LIV golfers signed a joint petition to OWGR requesting to include their golf association in the points system. But given that it was a Saudi Arabian league, the board had taken an extended period of speculation, and for a period of time, golfers hoped that they could get points henceforth.

But after a lot of judgment and introspection, recent news said that their appeal was unanimously turned down, and to back their decision, the board gave out a verdict that LIV Golf is not an eligible league, given that its format and selection process don’t abide by the norms of golf. Even Peter Dawson wrote a letter to CEO Greg Norman briefing the same thing in a formal account. Now, the question lies in whether TGL will face the same fate or whether it will receive points. Only time can answer that.
