Lexi Thompson is desperate. Desperate to play at the penultimate event on the LPGA calendar, that might just provide her with a window of opportunity to tee up at the CME Group Tour Championship. So, she turned up at the Annika Driven at Pelican Pro-am with a niggling wrist injury. But not without a bright smile on her face.
This is not the first time Thompson has done something remarkable. Just a few weeks ago, she elevated herself to the elite list of seven LPGA pros who teed up with men. Off the greens, another pioneer, Paige Spiranac, was speaking about the historical feat. Lauding the LPGA star’s boldness, her inspiring words still ring true as Thompson looks to achieve success while battling against injuries.

When Lexi Thompson’s involvement at the Shriners Children’s Open was announced, not everyone welcomed it with an open heart. As some disgruntled noises were heard, the 30-year-old celebrity became her knight in shining armor when she defended the decision.
In her podcast, Playing a Round with Paige, the golfer-turned-influencer spoke at length about why it’s important to get out of your comfort zone. The celebrity influencer has done it multiple times and credits the courage behind her success. “Every time I’ve done that, I’ve learned something, and I become a better person, a more well-rounded person, (and) a more successful person because I’m constantly trying to make myself uncomfortable.”
Let’s not take success for granted, though. Doing something out of the box means you might fail. Multiple times, even. “I have failed a ton of times, but I know what that feels like. It’s not as bad as you think it’s going to be.” Adding further, the 30-year-old social media influencer revealed the “fear of failure” should not be a bar to doing something new.
Weeks later, her words still ring true, as Lexi Thompson was spotted at the Annika Driven in Pelican, just days after falling from the stairs and injuring her wrist. Talk about strength of character and willpower.

Later on, an MRI and X-ray pointed out a wrist injury that has been bothering her ever since. But the 27-year-old LPGA Pro was determined to “push through the pain” and tee up at the penultimate event in the LPGA calendar.
