Earlier it was reported that the defending Masters champion will take a slew of top-rated players with him. However, when the time came, Jon Rahm was the only one sporting the LIV Golf Letterman jacket.

Nevertheless, there are speculations that a few more players are going to leave for El Dorado. Three spots in Rahm’s team are still open and the Great White Shark swears to ESPN, “I can tell you, hand on my heart, between eight and 12 guys for about two or three spots and maybe two spots, to be honest with you.” Who are the top five contenders for those three spots?

The British Ryder Cupper has been touted to join the LIV Golf along with Tony Finau. Although the latter was quick to deny the rumors, the Englishman kept his cards close to his chest this far. But earlier today, it was reported that Hatton will take part in the Hero Dubai Desert Classic. Hatton and Rahm teamed up at this year’s Ryder Cup and swept the USA clean twice at Friday and Saturday foursomes. 

Interestingly, Rahm was also a confirmed participant in TGL but bowed out, citing personal commitments. So, don’t be surprised if you see the pairing again at Mayakoba in February.

Wyndham Clark

As per some sources, the 2023 U.S. Open champion is in talks with LIV Golf. Could he be one of the eight to twelve players on Jon Rahm’s radar? Possibly. However, the American Pro has remained coy about his 2024 future like his British counterpart.

Viktor Hovland

There are swirling rumors that Hovland might be the next Ryder Cup hero to jump ship. That would be a heavy blow for the European Squad at the Bethpage black and would definitely call for a rule change. However, as of now, the Norwegian hasn’t officially confirmed his decision on the Saudi-backed side. Contrarily, World No. 4 is slated to participate in the Sentry. Apparently, the Tour Champion is a happy chap after getting $37M richer this year and taking it slow.

Kalle Samooja

The Finnish star grabbed the headlines after winning the LIV Golf qualifier. The 2022 Porsche European Open champion raked in $200,00. It is not clear which team he will join, but Jon Rahm can definitely look for the linksman with over a decade’s experience.

The Zimbabwean joined his brother, Scott Vincent, after a thrilling playoff victory to secure his LIV Golf card. The 26-year-old, prevailed over LIV Golf star Anirban Lahiri earlier this year at the International Series Vietnam to bag a $2M prize money. 

No further details have Rahm’s future team have been revealed yet. The Spaniard has not spoken about his team in the media interaction as well.
