It is safe to say that Tiger Woods has taken golf to a whole new level. Even those uninterested in golf will know who Woods is. This year, however, hasn’t been great for Woods. As the golf world runs its course, the only thing missing is its legend.

Forced away from the game in 2021, Woods could not take to the golf course much because of his many injuries. To add salt to his wounds, the Tiger Woods- Barack Obama partnership ceases to exist. And the passion he had in the past went in vain.

The mindset behind the collaboration

Barack Obama signed an agreement with Woods’ TGR Design in 2018. Under the agreement, TGR Design would combine two South Side golf courses near the Obama Presidential Center in 2016. According to the agreement, the nine-hole South Shore golf course and the 18-hole Jackson Park golf course would be combined to create a single course that can meet PGA Tour requirements.

The project, worth $70 million, has now ceased to exist. The reason behind this was that the foundation will now solely focus on opening the presidential center in Jackson Park by 2025. Plus, many local activists were against the project. This covers environmental effects and some amiable golfing neighbors who believed the new course would drive them out due to increased prices.

Though the project has now been dropped, it had sentimental value to Woods. He once shared with CBS Chicago why this project was special. ”We have a chance of giving the community something pretty substantial. I think it will be great for the community. And it’s something very different than what they’ve ever had in the city of Chicago,”‘ the 47-year-old golfer said. ”If we can pull this off, I think it can benefit some of the people along the south side. Hopefully, we can do it.”

Well, this recent development must be truly disheartening for Mr. Woods and definitely a major setback. However, no official statements have been made by American golfers as of yet. But in the midst of it all, TGR is launching yet another new project.

TGR’s new venture with an MLB friend

Mike Trout, a baseball legend, and TGR partnered on the new initiative. Trout and Woods have a contract for an 18-hole course in Vineland, New Jersey, called Trout National—The Reserve. TGR will design the course, and it is expected to open in 2025.

The whole cost of the project is estimated to be $350 million, and it would be a fantastic sports complex. This new endeavor might help make up for the loss of the $70 million project.

What do you think about the golfing legend’s thoughts on losing out on the Barack Obama project? Will we get a statement from Woods any time soon? Let us know in the comments.
