Sergio Garcia gave a beautiful round on Saturday at the Bolingbrook Golf Club. The 44-year-old moved up the leaderboard with a 5-under par in the second round. He is currently one stroke away from the leader Jon Rahm, who is currently at a 7-under score after the first two rounds of the LIV Golf Chicago. Garcia is among the old players who are still putting up a good fight for comparatively newer players like Rahm and Brooks Koepka.
When asked if playing so well even after forty gives an extra boost to him, he said, “Yes, of course. I still feel like I’ve got a lot of game in me.” At the post-round presser, they confessed that he had been extremely lucky with his body. He has had no injuries on his body in his entire career, and that, according to him, helps a lot to sustain in the game for long. On the other hand, Tiger Woods recently got sixth surgery on his body to recover from the back spasms and pain that he has been experiencing throughout the season.
Mr. T is known to be Sergio Garcia’s arch nemesis during their prime days. Woods bagged a one-shot victory in 1999 when both the golfers were competing at the PGA Championship. Garcia came to congratulate him with a hug. However, it was just a staged moment, and that was when Tiger Woods became his biggest competitor. The feud went on for almost a decade.

His several surgeries are the very reason why he has not been appearing much on the course since 2021. On the other hand, Garcia is bound to play fourteen events in a year as per the breakaway league’s conditions. Taking to this, the Fireballs GC Captain also added that he might not be one of the strongest guys in the golf community, but he surely is one of the fittest among them all. “I think that means a lot, and I’m very proud of that,” added Garcia.
Sergio Garcia played on the PGA Tour and the European Tour for almost four decades until he joined LIV Golf in 2022, at the age of 42. He has won 37 tournaments in them. This is his second season so far in the breakaway league and he has won one championship. But what is it that keeps him so fit, even at this age?

Sergio Garcia’s secret is always next to him!
Sergio Garcia is married to the Golf Channel reporter Angela Akins, who is extremely conscious about her health. While the 44-year-old golfer stated that he is very active, he also confessed that he no longer likes hitting the gyms like he did back in his twenties or thirties. However, he keeps his body in motion by playing different sports, like soccer and tennis, to keep himself in shape.

Apart from that, it is his wife’s strict routine that helps him. “My wife keeps me in shape. She’s even fitter than me,” added Garcia. Additionally, the couple has two kids and, according to the pro golfer, running around them and playing with them also adds up to his fitness routine. “It’s been fun, just like I said, staying active and doing things that you love doing, that you enjoy, and at the same time that can help you with fitness,” he concluded.
