Rose Zhang has been exceptionally wonderful on the greens since she turned professional in 2023. She had four top-10 finishes in tournaments this year including at the Women’s PGA Championship, the US Women’s Open, and the Amundi Evian Championship.
The 20-year-old also had an LPGA win in her debut year at the Mizuho Americas Open. She even got selected for the American Solheim Cup squad in the same year. The streak of her exceptional gameplay doesn’t stop, and she aims for her next LPGA title in Kuala Lumpur.
She is thriving over Nelly Korda on the LPGA leaderboard as well. After two rounds, Zhang sits in second place. But Korda has a much lower place at T20. As far as Zhang’s second-round performance is concerned, she made seven birdies and tied a score of 68 at the end of the round.
Seemingly, the expert hands of Nelly Korda are lagging behind the young golfer. Nelly had five birdies in round two, and she secured a score of 69. Apart from them, let’s take a look at the performance of the star golfer who currently sits atop the leaderboard.
Thidapa Suwannapura’s performance in the Maybank Championship so far
While most of the experienced players are having trouble on the muddy course, Thailand-based golfer Thidapa ‘Jasmine’ Suwannapura seems unbothered by the rain. She is currently leading the game. In the opening round of the event, she bagged seven birdies on her scorecard. Added to that, she also made a successful eagle on hole 14, thus, sealing a score of 63 at the end.
