Who is the GOAT? Tiger Woods or Jack Nicklaus? Even after many years, the debate on who is the goat of golf has never come to a conclusion. However, Arnold Palmer revealed what he thinks about the matter in an interview with the Golf Channel.

In the interview, Arnold said he doesn’t know whether Tiger would ever surpass Nicklaus’ record in major championships. However, he knows that Woods is the most skillful player the golf world has ever seen. He said, “Tiger Woods is the most dominant, most skilled player we have ever seen.”

Although he didn’t outrightly say it, it was evident from his statement that Palmer thinks Tiger is the best of all the golfers who have ever lived.

Arnold Palmer and Tiger Woods relationship

Palmer saw Woods when he was a young amateur and won the US Junior Amateur in 1991. From then onwards, Palmer and Tiger had developed a mentor-student relationship with each other. In an interview after Palmer’s death, Tiger said, “I knew that I could always call him for advice, and I looked forward to seeing him at Bay Hill and the Masters.”

Tiger had nothing but sweet memories to share about Arnold. He explained that his work in philanthropy and golf would be remembered forever. “It was an honor and privilege to have known Arnold, and I’m forever grateful for his friendship,” Tiger added.

Palmer passed away in 2016. Before he could see Tiger’s win at the 2019 Masters. However, his PR team didn’t forget to commemorate Woods’ win by revisiting what Palmer told Golf Channel about his unmatchable talent.

The debate on who is the GOAT has been prevailing in the golf world for more than a few years. While some argue it is Jack Nicklaus with 18 major wins, some say Tiger Woods.
