John Daly has become one of the most recognizable faces in the game. After more than three decades since his 1991 PGA Championship win propelled him to international status, it’s hard to believe that Daly still keeps his heartland close to his heart.

John Daly’s connection with the Arkansas Razorbacks
‘Long John’ was born in Arkansas and spent his childhood there. He attended the University of Arkansas on a golf scholarship, and although he left college without completing his degree, he still holds his college sports close to his heart.
One of Arkansas’ fame to glory is their university’s football team. The Arkansas Razorbacks is a popular college team in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision. Their mascot is modeled after the wild razorback hog, also called a feral pig.

Recently, Daly was back home in Arkansas. He made sure to keep a close eye on the football team, catching up with Tusk V, the official live mascot of the Arkansas Razorbacks.

The Arkansas alumnus looks set to cheer for his university team, sporting a Razorbacks T-shirt along with his signature, colorful trousers. It had the imprint of the Red Hog, the main costumed mascot of the University of Arkansas.
Holding a McDonald’s cup in hand, Daly seemed to enjoy a moment along with Tusky. Daly was a sports enthusiast from a very young age, with golf and football being on top of his priority list.

During his school days, he attended Helias High School in Jefferson City, Missouri, and was handed both punting and place-kicking duties on their football team. Helias football compiled a 10–0 record in 1983 and Daly still holds several Helias school kicking records in football.
The Arkansas Razorbacks will kick-start their Division I campaign against the Cincinnati Bearcats this weekend. John Daly will probably be seen cheering from the stands after spending the weekend in his heartland. He recently contested the Ally Challenge on the Champions Tour, finishing tied in 38th position at the Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club.
