The legendary golfer Tiger Woods recently competed in the 150th Open Championship. Meanwhile, the iconic Old Course at St. Andrews in Scotland is the host of this historic event. And Tiger was competing after battling hard with his injuries. Even though he was not completely fit to play, he pushed himself to compete in this historic event.

However, Woods, sadly, could not make the cut for the event and had to return after 36-holes. While he was on the final hole, there was a standing ovation from the crowd as a mark of respect towards the legendary golfer. This gesture overwhelmed Woods, and he talked about his experience of competing this week in the post-round interview.

Tiger Woods gets overwhelmed while talking about competing at St. Andrews 

Tiger Woods at the Open Championship missed his first cut in major championships this year. He was struggling with his game because of fitness issues. However, he believes the experience of competing at St. Andrews in the 150th Open Championship is unfathomable.

“Anytime you get the chance to come back and play The Old Course in The Open, it’s just special,” revealed Woods. Furthermore, he says he has been lucky enough to compete in the Open since 1995. However, Woods believes he is not sure whether he will be able to play at St. Andrews in the Open Championship again.

“I don’t know if I will be physically well enough to play another British Open at St. Andrews. I certainly feel like I will be able to play more British Opens. But I don’t know if I will be around when it comes back around here.” 

Therefore, the ovation he received on the final hole on Friday made Tiger emotional. So the warmth and ovation at 18th it got to me. It was just incredible the amount of understanding and respect from all the people that were involved in this event,” concluded Tiger.

Meanwhile, Tiger Woods carded a +9 this week in two rounds. He, sadly, couldn’t get his game going and carded only four birdies in 36-holes. Moreover, this is the same St. Andrews where the 15-time major winner has won the Open Championship twice in his career. But unfortunately, due to injuries, he could not perform at his best.

So going ahead, we might not see Tiger competing again for a while now. He will probably be back during the Hero World Challenge in November.
