Scottie Scheffler has been away from the PGA Tour for a while now. The world no. 1 last played in a tournament at the Hero World Challenge in December 2024. He also had an exhibition match partnering with Rory McIlroy against Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau a few days later. Since then, he has been busy recovering from an injury. Fans have been eager to watch Mr Inevitable back in action, but his withdrawal from The Sentry and other PGA Tour events has been a cause of major concerns. Jay Monahan & co. had to face the backlash as sponsors questioned Scheffler’s absence from the signature season-opening event.

However, recent visuals from Scottie Scheffler’s rehabilitation excited the PGA Tour officials. It seemed that their star player was nearly ready to make a comeback. However, a recent update indicates that he might not be as ready as everyone thought he was.

Shared by @GolfCentral on their X account, the post with Scheffler’s photo read, Scottie Scheffler said he’s still unsure when he will return to the PGA Tour, saying Monday: ‘I’m definitely anxious to get back, excited to get back, but I’m also not going to rush back just to rush back.'” That means that Scheffler’s inclusion at the 2025 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am is still under question. If he misses the signature event then he will be out of action from tournaments for nearly 2 months now.

Have an interesting take?

Just like Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy has also not featured in a single PGA Tour event in 2025. The Irishman has been busy with TGL duties and his commitments to the DP World Tour. Moreover, McIlroy has also confirmed that he will play fewer PGA Tour events this season. While he may be back for the 2025 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Tournament, it still won’t be enough for the events he has already missed.

More recently, Xander Schauffele also withdrew from a couple of PGA Tour events. After finishing at T30 in The Sentry 2025, Schauffele was absent from official events. He did make a brief appearance at the TGL but has been benched for the second game of the New York Golf Club. Lastly, Collin Morikawa also withdrew from the Farmers Insurance Open. It was a major surprise to the community considering that the entry list had already been released a few hours before his withdrawal. Having 4 out of the top 5 golfers in the world missing from PGA Tour events will definitely ring the alarm bells at the PGA Tour headquarters.
