Bryson DeChambeau is once again in contention after the Masters. The LIV Golf Pro is the second-best performer from the pack of 16 golfers representing the Greg Norman-fronted side at Valhalla. DeChambeau’s game has even impressed Brandel Chamblee, a noted golf analyst and commentator who has blasted LIV Golf on countless occasions.

DeChambeau’s third round started with a birdie on the par-4, 1st hole. DeChambeau has picked another birdie and a bogey at Valhalla. The par-71 layout, which is playing at 7,609 yards this year, suits DeChambeau’s game. The Crushers captain has gained 2.14 strokes from tee to green compared to the field. His SG: Total 3.14 is also the sixth best on the field.

DeChambeau has four top-1os in LIV Golf this season. The Scientist was the 36-hole leader at the Masters. However, he slipped up on the moving day, opening the doors for Scottie Scheffler. At Valhalla, though, DeChambeau looks determined to change that, as he is breaking through to the opt.

However, fans complain that the broadcasters Sky Sports Golf, NBC, and ESPN+ have snubbed DeChambeau. Instead, their focus is on PGA Tour pros who are leading the charge.

Bryson DeChambeau deserves respect fans demand

Fans clearly see an anti-LIV Golf bias in DeChambeau’s mistreatment. The PGA Tour and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, which powers LIV Golf, are in talks for a potential merger of business interests. However, that hasn’t totally filled the schism in men’s golf. Netizens believe that the 31-year-old is the victim of politics.

One fan noted that CBS hadn’t shown the LIV Golfer in the first three holes. “FU CBS!! Been watching all first three holes of leaders and ZERO Bryson coverage? Seriously!!!” Another user wrote that it’s a similar story even on ESPN+. “I’m watching the Bryson group in ESPN and they are literally just showing old Tiger highlights when there a MAJOR on wtf”.

Noting DeChambeau’s third-round performance, one user tweeted, “Bryson has a very, very good chance of winning this golf tournament. He needs to be shown.” DeChambeau’s strength is on the longest club. The eight-time PGA Tour winner is 8th in Strokes Gained: Off the Tee. A user noted, “They literally never show him hitting a drive.” Last year, the 30-year-old tied for 4th, as he did in the 2020 PGA Championship.

Interestingly, some likened the Golf’s declining viewership to the bias on the broadcast. PGA Tour events have witnessed a steady decline of around 20%. The Masters too witnessed a ratings drop of 20% in the final round. One of them wrote, “Most exciting golf on planet This is anti liv bias.  Saw first hole – that was it now on 4th no wonder golf in America has problem with declining audiences.”

DeChambeau was looking to go bogey-free yesterday. That, however, didn’t happen, but the eight-time PGA Tour winner also avoided a postponement of the second round, ignoring the horn. The Crushers captain was also spotted practicing late in the range earlier.
