If rumors are true, Anthony Kim is returning! The American golfer was a force to be reckoned with in his prime days. However, he took a hiatus due to injuries, which turned into a decade-long disappearance. Another shocking aspect of his return is his choice to probably join LIV Golf.
Rumors have it that the American golfer has decided he will play in the breakaway league. However, this decision has attracted criticism from a golf insider. In a recent X post, golf insider Chris McKee pointed out that he is not in favor of Kim joining LIV Golf. He said, “It just adds to the narrative that ‘LIV is a circus.'”
He claimed that Kim would be rusty and would perform badly since he has been away from the professional greens for 12 years. The circus claim comes from the fact that there are chances that Kim might shoot as high as 88 and it would just encourage LIV haters to think of the league as a “joke.”

I’ll be honest & admit I don’t like Anthony Kim playing LIV this week.
It just adds to the narrative that “LIV is a circus.” The guy hasn’t played in a pro event in 12 years. If he shows up & shoots 88 it’s just going to allow additional fuel for the LIV haters that it’s a joke.— Chris McKee (@mrmckee) February 26, 2024
A rusty comeback might give LIV Golf haters a chance to take shots at the Saudi-backed league again. His views, seem to have been reciprocated by the golf fans as well!
What do golf fans think about Anthony Kim joining LIV Golf?
The rumored move of AK to LIV Golf is speculated to be the handiwork of CEO Greg Norman himself. He was heavily invested in bringing him on board and handled all negotiations. It looks like the golf community however fails to see the value in Norman’s successful negotiation.

One fan was still skeptical about whether Norman did his work right or not. However, they still hoped for the best for the upcoming event.
Legit perspective.
I’m gonna trust that Norman & Co. did a good amount of due diligence on Kim’s current playing ability so this won’t become some circus-type marketing experiment.— FS (@21FrankS) February 26, 2024
Another fan agreed to denounce the return of Anthony Kim to LIV Golf, calling it similar to Lexi Thompson playing in a PGA Tour event. However, they wished the results to work in the favor of the returning golfer.
Have to say that I agree partially. It's all going to be result dependent, which should not be the case on how it's viewed! I recently brought up the case of Lexi being in a PGAT event which is a similar gimmick, and I wasn't a fan of. It will bring additional views no doubt

A fan even called the American golfer playing in Jeddah as a “no lose proposition” for LIV Golf. If he plays well, Norman and Co. can look further but if he does not he will remain a wildcard.
i think come for the insane hope that someone who hasnt played in 12 years is still great, stay for the great world players competing against each other is LIVs aim. AK is a no lose proposition for them

A LIV golf fan also agreed with the golf insider! They called it a tactic to gain more views. The fan said that even though they are not fans of Anthony Kim, they will be watching the Jeddah event. This means, whether you love him or hate him, the return will surely draw all eyes.
Fair call. I can understand what you're saying. In saying that I'm a Liv fan and I don't make much effort to watch it unless the timezone suits, but I'll definitely be watching Liv Jeddah with interest specifically due to him playing. Bit weird, I was never a fan of his either..

Many fans came out to point out that the return of the American golfer will be a grand one. A fan even said they were glad LIV Golf got Kim; otherwise, they would not have heard the end of it from the PGA Tour.

On the flip side, if the PGAT had of got him instead, they would literally be screaming it on every platform including the Golf Channel as the biggest thing in 10 years
