Anthony Kim went on a decade-long hiatus in 2012. After the Wells Fargo Championship that year, he had to undergo Achilles tendon surgery and went through many other things too. However, after over a decade, he made his comeback to professional golf this year at the LIV Golf Jeddah. But there was a catch to it. He was not a part of the thirteen teams but a wildcard. Although his comeback rumors were roaring, the comeback did not live up to the hype.
He played in 11 events, finishing 50 and above in 5 of them. His best finish of the season was T36 in Greenbrier. Not so much of a best finish, right? He last teed off in Chicago where he finished 42nd. This was in mid-September. Now, after almost 2 months, comes another update of where Anthony Kim will be playing very soon.
According to a golf fan page of Anthony Kim, @AKSwagTracker, he will be teeing off at the end of this month. They took to their official X account and reported, “AK HAS A TOURNAMENT LINED UP. He received an invite to the International Series Qatar on the Asian Tour at the end of the month!!! Can’t wait.” The $2.5 million event is scheduled from November 27 to November 30 at the Doha Golf Club in Qatar. After a rather disappointing 2024, we are sure his loyal fans can’t wait to see him put his best foot forward in the 120-man field.

Anthony Kim was once regarded as the Tiger Woods of his time. However, his untimely and unfortunate break from the sport took away all the potentially good rounds he might have had. But was the surgery the only reason for him to back out for so long?
Anthony Kim shares his love-hate relationship with golf
Anthony Kim’s journey on the course has been far from easy, with immense pressure from his father weighing on him from a young age. In a 2007 ESPN interview, the now-38-year-old shared how their father-son relationship went through many ups and downs and how he eventually reconciled with his father after earning his PGA Tour card. That was why when he began playing for the first time, it was more of a responsibility than a passion for him. He did not love the game as much as he should have. His recent series The Journey Back: Anthony Kim displays the ever-changing relationship of Kim and golf.

Driven by the pressure to succeed, Anthony Kim was determined to make his family’s sacrifices worthwhile. “With that added pressure, I was willing to risk a lot more. That was my nature,” he said. Kim was eager to achieve success quickly and give back to his parents, pushing himself aggressively to reach his goals. He even stated that he became very aggressive on the course, and that was what led to his downfall.
