Cameron Smith has been having a  season to remember. With his maiden Major win at St. Andrews, the golfer has been adored and loved by several fans around the world for his outstanding performance. But like many of his former PGA Tour colleagues, Smith too has been surrounded by the speculations of joining LIV Golf. With the Australian set to miss the second playoff event, the FedEx Cup, fans around the world believe he has joined the lucrative Tour.

Cameron Smith has been a shining star on the PGA Tour this year. Apart from his record-breaking Open Championship win, the World No. 2 finished tied in third position in both the Masters as well as the PGA Championship. He has helped in bringing a new range of golf fans from the Australian continent.

However, for the past few months, Cam Smith has been surrounded by rumors of joining the LIV Golf. Despite his rejection of the Tour in most interviews, the gossip doesn’t seem to leave the golfer, especially after his recent withdrawal from the BMW Championship.

Fans believe Cameron Smith has joined LIV Golf

Cameron Smith finished the first event of FedExCup tied in 13th position. He finished with a score of 9-under-par. During the tournament, the Aussie was heckled several times for his links with the Saudi-backed Tour.

Despite that, Smith maintained his composure and completed the third round with no controversy.  He later talked about how he avoided the distractions by saying, “There’s definitely been a few more, but for me, I’m just trying to hit the best shot I can. That’s what I’m here to do is to hit good golf shots and make birdies.”

Cam Smith had a decent performance at the TPC Southwind. He was set to take part in the BMW Championship which will commence on August 18. However, a hip injury has sidelined the golfer from the event.

The PGA Tour revealed the statement from the golfer’s team. It read, “Unfortunately, Cam will be unable to compete in the BMW Championship this week in Wilmington DE. He has been dealing with some on and off hip discomfort for several months and thought it best to rest this week in his pursuit of the FedExCup.

Though an official statement is yet to be released from both parties, many fans have begun speculating about the Australian’s move to LIV Golf. With rumors swirling around that Cam Smith could reportedly earn around $100 million for becoming the latest defector, fans couldn’t control sharing their thoughts on Twitter.
