A golfer at the top of their game can inspire a lot of people just by seeing them exhibit their best on the course. But doing the same even years after one is in their prime can be extra hard. However, that is exactly what Annika Sorenstam has been doing, even after saying goodbye to regular on-course appearances in 2008!
Dubbed a legend on the LPGA Tour, Sorenstam had managed to turn many heads with the ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge at Pelican, thus displaying her passion for the sport once again. And, expressing her admiration for the Swedish golfer was none other than an LPGA Tour pro, in a surprise of sorts, as she even went ahead to proclaim her as nothing short of a role model!

The ANNIKA Driven by Gainbridge at Pelican saw the conclusion of its third round in Florida. And Megan Khang was able to place herself at T9 with an amazing performance over the three days. What’s more, she was all praise for Sorenstam during the post-round interview that took place after Saturday.
In a press conference, the American Solheim Cup star expressed her admiration for the 53-year-old, as she dubbed it “pretty cool” that the retired golfer has “recently been coming back to the game of golf,” referring to the 2022 and 2023 editions of the U.S. Women’s Open. Moreover, the 26-year-old was also able to “play practice rounds with her and pick her brain about what it takes to win a major,“ all the while tagging it as a “pleasure.”
Adding on, the 1x LPGA Tour champ mentioned how Sorenstam could have easily stayed away from the game after her retirement with the legacy she left behind. The 2023 CPKC Women’s Open winner then pointed out how she didn’t do that but instead gave “back to the community” as she “loves the game so much,” alluding to the newly named event. Inspired by the Swede, the ANNIKA award recipient expressed her desire to “follow those footsteps and create my (Khang’s) own foundation” so that she can also “give back” to society.
Well, it makes sense for the young generations to see the legend as a great example to follow, owing to the accolades she has garnered in the sport. However, Khang wasn’t the only professional who was all praise for the 72-time LPGA Tour winner.
