Phil Mickelson is among the prominent faces in golf. The six-time major championship winner is famous for his witty sense of humor and various trash-talking stories. However, once the World Golf Hall of Fame member was on the receiving end of the smack-talking, an amazing revelation about the same came to light a few years back.

Jake Owen narrates a funny Phil Mickelson story
Jake Owen, a famous American songwriter back in 2019, narrated an incident that involved the 45-time PGA Tour winner and Jake himself. The incident occurred the day after Tiger Woods and the lefty took each other on for The Match at Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas.
Jake spoke about how he trashed talked with probably the most outstanding professional. However, it’s the reply of Mickelson that will genuinely blow your mind.

Jake spoke about the smack-talking incident on the Fore Play Golf Podcast. The same video came out on their Youtube channel on April 3rd, 2019.
Jack said, “Jordan got married in November. And Phil was there. And it was the day after he played Tiger and. So I walked over to him. I was like, hey, Phil, you owe me f**king 29.99. I’m like dude seriously you owe me 2999. I was like for wasting four hours of my life. With the sh***iest golf, I’ve ever seen. Like, you guys are like the best golf. You guys hype this whole thing up about this big match you guys couldn’t even make three birdies between the two of you? I’m like, I want my 2999 back, and f**k apologize to me for some shi**y golf.”
To which Phil had probably one of the most epic replies. He added, “And he pulls out a wad out of his out of his thing. And he grabs $100 Bill, he’s like, Yeah, I won 90,000 of these yesterday. Take a 100 and go f**k yourself.”
Owen’s words prove how hilarious Phil is. At the same time, it also proves the level of sense of humor both Jake and the 2021 PGA Championship winner possess. It is incredibly hilarious to listen to.

Phil creates history at the 2021 PGA Championship
The American professional created history at the Ocean Course in 2021. Mickelson won the 2021 PGA Championship at the age of 51. As a result, he became the oldest major championship winner. Furthermore, he broke Julius Boros’ record, who had won the 1968 PGA Championship at 48. He won the major championship event with an overall score of six-under-par. As a result, he won the tournament with a comfortable two-shot advantage.
On top of that, he carded a final round of one-over-par, 73. His final round of 73 included three birdies and three bogeys on the opening nine holes. As a result, he moved out in level-par, 36. He made two birdies and three bogeys on the back nine to finish on the top of the leaderboard. Louis Oosthuizen and Brooks Koepka finished as the runner-ups to Mickelson. They ended the event with an overall score of four-under-par. As a result, they had to settle for a tied second position finish.
