The Amundi German Masters 2023 will commence from June 15- June 18. Relatively new, the golf event on the Ladies European Tour first started off as the Ladies British Masters in the early 2000s. It was played in the North West of England but was not successful in fully establishing itself in the golf dynamics. Eventually, after a lot of changes and re-institution, the event was sponsored by ISPS Handa. After that, it remained one of the significant European events.

Unfortunately, the tournament witnessed a break from 2017-2021. However, the competition returned again with a bang on German soil. The 2022 season saw a successful completion of the Amundi German Masters. It was the first time for the event to be played under this name. With high spirits and earnest efforts, the 2023 season might deliver even more than the last year.

In accordance with the same, the competition for sure offers brilliant talent and an enthusiastic playing field. With that let us take a look at the top five golfers who we think have a higher chance of outshining others on the field.

Top 5 picks to win the 2023 Amundi German Masters

The Amundi tournament is an event filled with members ranging from different age groups. This event provides an excellent opportunity for players who want to compete at the international level with a major scope of learning. In fact, many players who will take on the greens on 15th June have been in the professional arena for only a few years.

5. Chiara Noja- The German golfer is a treat to watch. She turned professional at the young age of 15 in 2021. Her first victory came in the form of the Amundi Czech Ladies Challenge. In 2022, she became the youngest professional golfer to win an LET event. Jeddah fans witnessed her handing over the defeat to the English golfer Charley Hull. She also sits right now on the third spot in the LET Money list.

4. Olivia Cowan- Another German professional golfer who is sure to add to the competition on June 15 is Cowan. Last year, she impressed everyone with her T4 finish at the same event. Cowan has been a member of the Ladies European Tour and LPGA Tour. Among many achievements, her recent feat is the 2022 Hero Women’s Indian Open. Also, the venue provides a homely atmosphere for Cowan, adding to the advantage on the field.

 3. Lily May Humphreys- The English 21-year-old is one of the top contenders at the Berlin venue this coming week. Currently, Humphreys stands in the 6th position in the Race to Costa del Sol Ranking. Apart from this, she displayed resilient set of skills in March 2023 as she went on to claim the Joburg Ladies Open title. It was her first LET win since turning professional in 2021.

2. Ana Pelaez Trivino- In the Race to Costa del Sol Ranking, she comfortably sits on the second berth. The Spanish golfer joined the Ladies European Tour in 2022. Her first LET win came as a member on her debut event at the 2022 Madrid Ladies Open. The earnest efforts that have helped her climb up on the leaderboard are sure to add to the competitive air around the event.

1. Leonie Harm- The runner-up of the last year’s Amundi German Masters is arguably the favorite to lift the trophy this week. Even though she missed the cut in the last week’s Scandinavian mixed, her skills at the inaugural season of the Amundi tournament were extraordinary. Despite not winning the crown of the winner, the golfer showcased great potential at the G&CC Seddiner Lake. This might provide a good amount of confidence before the game.

Apart from these other players, the field will also witness Alexandra Försterling, Patricia Isabel Schmidt, Liz Young, and others, adding to the already competitive field.

Prize Money and the defending champion of the Amundi German Masters

The 72-hole event powered by VcG is all set for its second season. Just like the 2022 edition, the total purse offered at the tournament will be $324,099 (£300,000). No confirmation regarding the share of the winner’s prize has been given out yet.

Last year the tournament witnessed Maja Stark claiming victory on German soil. A stroke later on the final hole, one of the competitive women’s golf tournaments on the LET had its Swedish winner who surpassed Leonie Harm and Jessica Karlsson. Despite an underwhelming start, the golf professional went on to make a couple of birdies and finished on 15-under-par.

One shot behind her, Harm and Sweden’s Karlsson ended up in a tie with 14-under-par. Sadly, the field won’t get to see either of the Swedish golfers play this year as they have entered the tournament. Despite their absence, some of the top players from the Costa del Sol Ranking will still be present to learn, grow and display on the field. Plus, events like these help promote talented female golfers and create awareness regarding the same among the golf audience.
