Many golfers have shared their joy of shifting from the PGA Tour to LIV Golf. Pat Perez has been one such golfer, who has been quite open about loving his new life at the lucrative series. However, it has been a phenomenon that LIV defectors do not have a good relationship with players of their former Tour. Following Perez’s team’s big win in Miami, he shattered this myth as he received a congratulatory message from many stars around the golf world including a PGA Tour loyalist.

After moving to LIV Golf, Perez joined the team 4 Aces GC. The team was already considered a strong team, comprising great golfers such as Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed, Taylor Gooch, and Perez himself. Aces began their domination in the Tour from the second  LIV Golf event in Portland.

They continued finishing at the top in the following 3 events. But they won the biggest event of all in Miami, where the team bagged home $16 million. Following their big win, Perez recently revealed how he received a heartwarming message from the PGA Tour loyalist Justin Thomas.

Perez recently paid a visit to the podcast Son of a Butch with Claude Harmon. There he talked about facing the critics, his experience at the Breakaway Tour, and the changing dynamics between the players. The 46-year-old then revealed a message sent to him by the 2 time Major winner, Justin Thomas, after his team’s big win in Miami.

Perez said, “I got a text from Justin Thomas. Monday morning. He said, “Hey man, I’m so happy for you, congrats”. The LIV Golf defector further added that many other stars from PGA Tour also congratulated him such as Jon Rahm.

Many fans appreciated Thomas’ gesture towards Perez since JT has been against the idea of the Saudi-backed Tour. Nonetheless, the Arizonan golfer has been loving life on his new Tour. Moreover, despite competing at lesser events at LIV Golf, he has still earned more than his PGA Tour career earnings of the past two seasons.

It’s great to see a truce among the players of both Tours. The battle for the throne for the most relevant Tour has ruined the friendships of many golfers, or at least that’s what the myth has been. However, some stars have maintained their friendship and didn’t let the choice of their Tour ruin it. Pat Perez and Justin Thomas are one such examples.
