The name keeps appearing in the headlines thanks to its controversial and bumpy ride. With a rather messy start in 2022 and no sponsorships or players joining; 2023 seemed to be a turning point for the league. With a massive merger with rival PGA Tour, they added another million-dollar deal to their resume.

LIV Golf welcomes new destination to its roster

The Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Sport of the Government of Andalucía has partnered with the league to bring a new event titled the LIV Golf Andalucía. This multi-year deal is worth millions and will establish Andalucía as the destination partner of the league.

Andalucía is no stranger to golf, as it welcomed around 32.5 million tourists just last year; the majority being golf-related tourism. The league is preparing for its first-ever continental European event at Real Club Valderrama.

Day 1 of the LIV Golf Andalucía has some big names attached, and the news of the merger has excited fans and news outlets even more. 

LIV makes another expansion globally with newly announced event 

Arturo Bernal, the regional Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Sports, said that this partnership aims to make Andalucía the center of the global golf scene. The tournament will bring the most elite players in the sport to the most pristine destinations. The minister added that the region’s hundreds of courses are perfect for professional players. He also highlighted the region’s offerings, such as iconic cities, climate, natural vegetation, etc. 

In the words of the LIV Golf Commissioner Greg Norman, the partnership is a sign of the local leaders embracing the changing trends to bring prosperity to the region. He also added that the opportunity would bring big names to world-class destinations. With this deal in the bag, the momentum the league has created is massive. This will have a global impact on tge sport as a whole, and the world, encouraging a new generation of golfers.
