The Players Championship is underway, providing the best action in the golf world. While it may not feature the 15-time Major winner, Tiger Woods, fans got to witness his half-niece Cheyenne Woods at TPC Sawgrass a day before the tournament’s commencement. Though no golfing will be done by the Woods this weekend, the LPGA star had a message for all the women golfers on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
The ongoing event is among the elevated events on the PGA Tour. The Players Championship marks the mega stop for the golfers before next month’s Masters. Nonetheless, a day before the first tee shot from TPS Sawgrass, Cheyenne Woods was invited for the fan experience at the venue.
The female golfer is the Brand Ambassador of Morgan Stanley, which also happens to sponsor the Players Championship. Following her invitation, Cheyenne shared her experience at the golf course in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, and also had a strong message for female golfers.

“I think representation is so important”, said Cheyenne while referring to all the women and girls she plays golf with. While her uncle Tiger may be undergoing legal trouble after his breakup with Erica Herman, the LPGA star’s words brought positivity around the females in the sport. She added, “When I’m out there on the golf course, I keep that in mind, we’re (women) always breaking barriers, and really proud to say I’m part of that”.

The Woods family is known to break barriers in the sport. Her uncle Tiger Woods has several records in the sport to his name. Cheyenne too joined an exclusive club, becoming only the sixth African American female golfer to earn the LPGA Tour card in 2015. However, she didn’t take credit for herself. Instead, shared it with her fellow female golfers on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
Reflecting on Cheyenne’s words on breaking barriers, LPGA stars have proved to provide equally competitive golf as the PGA Tour in recent years. With the arrival of golfers such as Lydia Ko, Nelly Korda, and Lexi Thompson to name a few, the competition has only become more fierce. Perhaps, it is only the beginning of the LPGA Tour before they take over the golfing world.
