After the news of the billion-dollar merger put PGA Tour players and fans in unrest, another wild theory is spreading around the golf world like wildfire through the jungle. LIV Golf, which was after the top players of the PGA Tour and has left no stone unturned to assemble world-class golfers in their team, was on the verge of making another conquest.

From Tiger Woods to Hideki Matsuyama, the Saudi-backed league went after all possible players with mind-blowing paychecks to lure them. Some stayed put, while others cracked. And allegedly, at one point, it seemed that LIV was about to add Jon Rahm to their side too, right before the merger took place.

Word on the street was that Jon Rahm was about to change stations and was joining LIV Golf. Precise details of this matter are unknown, but it was speculated that the Spanish player was offered $400 million to switch his loyalty.

There has been no official comment from Rahm or LIV Golf. But now it looks like the golf pro may have finally given a response. Posting a clip of himself holing the ball from 159 yards away, the former world no. 1 captioned his Twitter post, “Who is ready for the weekend?” building hype and brushing aside all the rumors ahead of the US Open.

The current world no. 2 posted the clip unbothered by the current scenarios. Speculations were also underway that the probability of Jon joining LIV had fastened the process of the merger as the PGA Tour could not stand to lose another one of its big names to the other side.

The first person to circulate this news is Golf Channel‘s Matt Adams, who said “A player who was recently ranked #1 in the world is a multiple-time major champion was in advanced discussions with LIV“. Fans were quick to turn their Sherlock minds on and soon deduced that the person who fit the bill was none other than Rahm.

If money was a factor that tempted Rahm to consider the offer, then he won’t be the first one guilty of it. All major players who shifted to LIV stated that finance was a huge factor that affected their decision. Also, Rahm has friends on the opposite team, like fellow Spaniard Sergio Garcia, who would have loved having his countryman on his team.

Until there is any confirmation from any reliable source, this rumor will, of course, remain unverified. But one thing is certain: in the midst of the chaos of it all, Rahm stands unaffected.
