The PGA Tour Qualification School is giving way to new golfers to win the PGA Tour cards and make their debut in the most eminent tours in the world. One such player is Turk Pettit, a former LIV golfer who has passed through the initial stages of the Q-school.

LIV defectors are still banned from participating in any of the PGA Tour events. Despite the merger talks, LIV golfers could not take a breath of ease. Meanwhile, relegated players from the league have a sword over their heads, with no clarity about what their future holds.

Turk Pettit played in the 2022 season of the LIV Golf. He was part of Bubba Watson’s RangeGoats GC (formerly Niblicks GC). After new players joined the team, Pettit was left alone. Furthermore, as the season progressed into the second edition, his name was dropped from the LIV roster.

In his time at LIV Golf, Pettit had only one top-10 finish. His performance steadily decreased and the worst happened when he finished T46th in LIV Golf Boston. After that, Turk moved to the Asian Tour in search of his form. However, yet another setback awaited him.

Pettit could not make the cut seven times and finished mostly out of the top 10. He is trying his luck again at the Q-school. He has now advanced to the second stage of qualifications. According to the reports, Turk was cleared to play in sanctioned PGA events. The five-second stages organized in different courses will either take place from November 14th-17th or November 28th to December 1st.

Even Fred Ridley, Master’s Chairman, declared that there was no tweaking of the qualifications for the 2024 masters to suit the LIV golfers. As things have progressed, only five golfers from the league are eligible to participate in all four majors. They’re Phil Mickelson, Cameron Smith, Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson, and Bryson DeChambeau. Only time will tell if the merger can change the fate of LIV defectors.
