According to them: “Matt and Alex Fitzpatrick are the second English brothers to play in the same British Open after Geoffrey and Bernard Hunt in the 1960s. Both Fitzpatrick has made a triple bogey 6 on 17. Both Fitzpatrick is in the clubhouse at +2. Helluvabattle is underway for Low Fitzpatrick this week. Don’t believe Alex has ever beaten Matt in a tournament before.”
This is the first time that the brothers are tied for the same spot at a famous event. While Matt has a successful career to boast of, Alex turned professional in June 2022 at the 2022 Horizon Irish Open.
Matt is the older brother and has the advantage of more experience in the field and the major tournaments also. In fact, in 2022, Matt won his first PGA Tour title and major championship at the US Open. His second win on the tour came in April this year at the RBC Heritage. In comparison, Alex has very less experience and hasn’t won any PGA event yet.
This is his first Open Championship but he is displaying his some serious skills and is giving his elder brother very tough competition. During the second round, he carded a one-under-par 70. Though he did have some bogeys at the 16th and 17th, overall he finished the round well. And fans want to see them together on the course more often.
