Did Tiger Woods's caddie really earn more than Scottie Scheffler's? Is it all about the golfer's fame?

Scottie Scheffler is running on the No. 1 position in the OWGR list. He has managed to bag a total of 13 career wins on the PGA Tour, out of which seven of them came in 2024, including the Tour Championship. This eventually means that he has managed to earn a lot more than the other PGA Tour Pros. Well, most of his wins came with his latest caddie, Ted Scott.

According to the official payouts system, the looper gets a 10% cut of the prize money a golfer receives in every event. The percentage drops to 7% when it reaches the top 10. But for players ranked lower, it decreases even further to 5%. Well, this makes it pretty evident that with each dollar Scheffler earns, his caddie too will be entitled to get a cut of the same. So how much has he earned helping the World No. 1 on the greens?

Scottie Scheffler has earned $71,793,586 to be precise, until the BMW Championship. This has made him the third on the PGA Tour’s career money leaders list. After winning the Tour Championship, his figures have almost reached $100 million. Whereas, when you bridge it down to only 2024, he has earned a total of $54,228,357, of which seven have been for the winning position, nine top-10 positions, and three out of the Top-10.

When we calculate how much of that share Ted Scott has got, it comes down to a whopping $5,238,650, well this much excludes the amount he received after Scheffler’s win at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and of course the share from Comcast Tour’s top 10 winnings. He earned $3800 from the Olympics and $800,000 from the bonus money. This takes up his total amount of over $6 million. Well, last year, his total earnings were $843,000, which is significantly less than what he will be taking home this year.

When it comes to Tiger Woods’s caddie, Steve Williams, he is still among the most famous and well-known caddies on the PGA Tour. He also worked with Greg Norman before he started carrying Mr. T’s bags. Under his tenure, Woods has won 13 PGA Tour Major victories. However, they had a spat, and Williams started working for Adam Scott in 2013. Before working for Woods, William was already living a great life.

In 2007, he earned $1.4 million, and was in the top 74 of the PGA Tour’s top earnings, despite not being a player. Working with Tiger Woods for 12 years, he bagged almost $9 million. Well, when you compare Scott’s this year’s earnings with Williams, you may think that he has earned more than him. But, he might be very close to becoming as wealthy as Williams, but still has a little longer to reach there.
