LPGA’s star face, Lexi Thompson, has had a mixed year on the greens. Where her play has been in the best of its form, the golfer has had a hard luck cracking a win. In recent times, seeing all the results that the player births on the greens, it is hard to believe that she won’t be competing in the CME Group Tour Championship in Naples next week.

Lexi Thompson’s next stop is the Grand Thornton Invitational in December. The player will be seen taking the greens one last time this season with her PGA Tour partner and 17x title holder Rickie Fowler. The 28-year-old currently holds the WWGR 26 and her play at the Greg Norman-designed course will be her last chance to secure a win this year.

The golfer posted about her experience playing at Annika’s event on her Instagram. Thanking all the sponsors, volunteers, and fans, Thompson added that the week was very special to her and thanked Annika Sorenstam for making it a possibility. “Thanks so much the Pelican Golf Club for hosting us, the course was in the best shape I’ve ever seen, and we got treated so well as usual,” the player remarked.

Further, Thompson added, “…That’s a wrap of my official 13th full Time year on LPGA, finished off the year strong with some good golf, so I’m going to take the positives and build on that!” The player then added that she will be seen at “the @grantthorntoninv in December” and concluded by saying that after her showdown, she will enjoy her off-season.

Thompson’s current position on the CME points charts is at 79, so she is not a part of the all-star flashing roster. Irrespective of this, however, her performance on the greens has been commendable. Here’s a look at how the golfer played at her last event.

Lexi Thompson showed her love and affinity for the Pelican Golf Club by firing a bogey-free, 6-under 64 in round one of The ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge event. Being true to her roots, the Floridan native made six birdies, and this included a streak of four in five holes in the front nine.

Starting on the back nine, the golfer’s early birdies set the tone for her overall game, though. Thompson has previously scored a 64 in her second round, during the 2021 LPGA Tour season. By the end of the event, Thompson ranked in the top 10 players of the tourney, sitting in the seventh position.
