Rory McIlroy’s life has turned upside down. How? Well, after a broken marriage and a 10-year-long major drought that he was hoping to end at Valhalla, he is left alone to pick up the pieces. Although he won back-to-back at the PGA Tour with victories at the Zurich Classic and Wells Fargo Championship, the happiness was only short-lived. A day later, he filed for divorce in a Florida court.

As per the golfer, his marriage to Stoll was “irretrievably broken.” Seven years ago, on March 7, the couple signed a prenuptial agreement, almost six weeks before they got married. McIlroy has requested the court deem the prenup “valid and enforceable.” If the court grants the agreement as such, the golfing star would keep most of his wealth. According to the clause, the Northern Irishman now gets to keep his former family’s mansion. A source told this to the NY Post. Moreover, from his estimated net worth of $170 million, Stoll would not receive half of it, as usually happens in the case of no prenup agreement.

However, the catch is that McIlroy may give the keys to his Florida mansion to his soon-to-be ex-wife, Stoll. The reason behind it is that the Northern Irishman wants to give his daughter, Poppy, a stable home. The 35-year-old would rather look for a new pad after the divorce. Even when their divorce news broke out, the golfer’s communication team said that he wanted this to be as amicable and respectful as possible.

The former couple bought his home in 2017 for almost $11 million, and now it is valued at almost $22 million. It is spread across almost 2.5 acres of land. It is a lavish property that has nine bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, a home theater, a recording studio, a separate guest house, and a tennis court. With his life taking a turn for the worse, this is not the first time that McIlroy has ended a relationship. And with many others, this time too, the rumors have it that the 26-time PGA Tour winner was difficult to deal with in his marriage.

Rumors have it that Rory McIlroy was a hard person in his marriage

The world number two was once infamous for breaking his engagement with tennis star Caroline Wozniacki over a three-minute phone call, just weeks before their marriage. He was also rumored to have broken the heart of Holly Sweeney, his childhood love, before getting in with Wozniacki. After his split with the former #1 tennis star, the golfer released a statement saying, “The problem is mine. The wedding invitations issued at the weekend made me realize that I wasn’t ready for all that marriage entails.”

Overall, the rumors say that McIlroy had been brutal when it came to ending a relationship. This time, sources close to US Weekly reported that Stoll felt Rory was a hard person to be married to and that she felt lonely quite often. Perhaps that became the reason for their split; however, it was not Stoll who filed for divorce; it was McIlroy himself.

Whatever the reason behind the end of their 7-year-old relationship, the Northern Irishman is now rumored to be involved with CBS’s reporter, Amanda Balionis. The two have not confirmed the speculations amidst the ongoing divorce settlement.
