Usually, golfers take away millions of dollars from an event after winning it, but at the ongoing Estrella Damm Andalucia Masters, there was way more at stake than just money. And it was truly hilarious. Usually, the winner of the event buys beverages for his team after the event, but for Ugo Coussaud, even if he wins, this might not be an issue, As he now has 180 pints of beer.
Yes, you read it right! What happened was in the opening round of the Andalucia Masters, the French golfer, Coussaud made a hole-in-one at the par-3 eight hole from 175 yards, using a 6 iron. Upon his fantastic shot, the event’s sponsor, Estrella Damm, awarded him beer equaling his weight, which was about 85 liters. Surely, Coussaud will not have to buy any beer for quite some time. But it is not the first unusual hole-in-one prize in the golf world. Below are the top 5 that stunned everyone.

Continuing the tradition of rewarding the golfers with the weirdest prizes, you will read some quirky ones ahead. This time or technically in 2015, the KLM Open sponsor, Warsteiner, gave the hole-in-one maker a year’s supply of their beer. At Kennemer Golf & Country Club, Wade Ormsby drained an ace on the 11th hole from 169 yards.

But this was not the only beverage prize for Ormsby. In 2021, he made another hole-in-one at the Aberdeen Scottish Open. After he made an ace at the par-3 16th hole of The Renaissance Club, he was given 204 bottles of Glengoyne whiskey. It took him more than a year to finish the first reward, who knows, Ormsby may still be sipping on that whiskey.
A prized ham for the ace maker
Elliot Saltman did not win the Madrid Masters in 2011, but he was surprisingly all over the golf world because of his hole-in-one made there. It was indeed an incredible hole-in-one Saltman drained on the par-3 third hole at the El Encin Golf Hotel but the award he got made it to the news. He received his body weight but in Iberico ham.
Weighing 238 pounds or 17 stones, Saltman received $10,438 worth of ham. There were some traditional prizes on other holes such as a car and watch, but the ham was in Saltman’s fate. After winning the reward, he jokingly said, “I’ve been trying to lose weight, but now I’m thinking I should have just kept it.”
A chance to see the space
No man has gone to space for making a hole-in-one, but Andy Sullivan was given that exact opportunity. At the 2014 KLM Open, Sullivan finished third behind the winner, Paul Casey, but before doing that he made a hole-in-one on the 15th hole at the Kennemer Golf Club. As XCOR Space Expeditions was one of the sponsors during that event, Sullivan got a $100,000 worth trip to the space.
The trip would have taken Sullivan on a half-hour suborbital flight to 100 km (330,000 feats) and then return to a landing at the takeoff runway, as the company described. But Sullivan never took the prize, who knows, he might take it in the future.
A house on the golf course
On the list of unusual hole-in-one rewards, a house is probably the second among all. At the 2015 Thailand Classic, Panuphol Pittayarat shot an ace on the par-3 14th hole of the Black Mountain Golf Club during the second round. Subsequently, the then-22-year-old was given a four-story, 3 bedroom townhouse worth $313,139 (£240,000/12 million baht) which was being built near the 9th fairway.
Although he didn’t win the event, impressed with his ace reward, Pittayarat said, “I feel like I’ve won this golf tournament.” Who would not feel like they have won everything when you have been eyeing the house for quite a while?

168 bottles of champagne for a hole-in-one
Another KLM Open hole-in-one prize makes it to the list. Surprisingly, the KLM Open sponsors have some unusual rewards for those making aces and just like 180 pints of beer, 168 bottles of champagne was also shocking. At the 2012 Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open, Andrew Johnston was chasing his first victory on the DP World Tour, but what he got was 168 champagne bottles at the Castle Stuart Golf Links.
He made an ace on the 11th hole of the first round of the Scottish Open and was given Laurent Perrier champagne for every yard, it was a 168-yard par-3. Beef recounted, “It lasted nearly two years!”
