Since Justin Thomas had a kind of drought this year with no wins in his bag, his hopes for the US Team for the Ryder Cup were hanging by a thin string. His hopes were very slim, given the other PGA compatriots were doing so much better to get into the team and woo Zach Johnson.
But earlier this week, Johnson, the captain of the US team, revealed the names of the six captain’s picks in the squad of 12, and surprisingly, one of those names was Justin Thomas. Now, days ahead of the tournament, his old Ryder Cup admission goes viral.

Justin Thomas has been the emotional leader of the American Ryder Cup team for the past two years. Now that his inclusion in this year’s American team has gone viral over social media platforms, as a result, an old video has resurfaced where Justin Thomas explains how much this prestigious tournament means to him. To him, it’s bigger than the Olympics.
“I think that was number one [Ryder Cup] for sure,” says the two-time major winner in the video. “And it’s no disrespect to the Olympics at all or in any form if you get to represent your country.” In what must come as a shock to many, he goes on to say he would prefer the Ryder Cup over even a major.
He also reveals why feels so close to the hallowed tournament. “I think the big thing of it is was my dad working for the PGA and I’ve been the free Ryder cups I’ve been to in the States when out of states it’s it’s just unbelievable. I mean I got chills as a spectator so and talking to guys that have played in it. Say it’s the coolest thing I’ve ever done.”
