Lexi Thompson‘s recurrent wrist injury seems to have a deliberate effect on her physical as well as mental health. But the 29-year-old golfer is reluctant to stay out of her fitness regime. Once before, Thompson walked out of the Chevron Championship because of her hand injuries, and history has repeated itself once again this year.
Last year she suggested her missing the cut was the result of overworking, and towards the end of the year, she shared her MRI results and got an unnamed surgery done. The LPGA star had to go through a variety of concerning conditions, from swelling and inflammation to a cortical irregularity in her tailbone and hand tendinitis. This year, she did not overwork and is focusing on healing properly. “Even though I pushed through it this week, I’ve decided I need to figure out how to get back to my best self. To get my hand healthy and in a better state of mind. Time to do the work on myself 👊🏼,” said the golfer. Yet she firmly held on to her fitness routine.
To recover from her injury woes and make clean shots in her upcoming time on the greens, the LPGA icon plans to make herself proud. In one of her posts with gym gear, she wrote, “Make yourself proud.” For a fitness enthusiast like her, it is needless to say that the gym and fitness might have a great role to play in this goal of hers.

Thompson does not only invest her time in cardio; she even does as many as four sets of her exercises, which also aim towards upper and lower body strength training. Among her favorite pieces of equipment are dumbbells, sleds, bosu balls, resistance bands, and even foam rollers. With pylo squats, deadlifts, and leg curls, the golfer tries to specifically target certain body parts and, at times, tries to achieve an overall gain and become 5% better on daily basis.
She had also noted her fitness routine in one of her early morning fitness drill updates a while ago: “10 min of sprint bike, bosu squats, bosu backward lunge, side lunges, plank, and bosu push-ups.” The LPGA star had also confessed that on any practice day, she practices for about 3-5 hours, and keeps herself busy in the gym for about 1-2 hours that day.
Time and again, Lexi Thompson proved how her fitness goals have aided in making her victorious on the golf course. As she continues to share her fitness content with the fandom, she receives much acceptance and encouragement from them.
Fans show appreciation for Thompson
One of the 11x LPGA Tour winner’s fans called her “Flexi Lexi.” This name suits her very much, as she has been a fitness freak for the longest time and has always shared her love for the same with fans on social media. Even her injury scares have not stopped her from her gym sessions.
While another fan pointed out how her hamstring workouts are extremely well done, they commented, “Good work out for hamstring muscles. In terms of golf backward and forward rotation of hips and torso.” Golf is a technical sport and requires a lot of muscle strength to hit the balls powerfully. Her workout will surely give her the necessary strength to do better on the greens and soon clinch a victory.

One such fan said, “Lexi, I love seeing you train with so much energy and passion!!! It is what characterizes you as a fighter and a lioness of sport!! congratulations..!!! Take care of your right hand.!!!” Although Thompson has not won in a very long time on the LPGA Tour, she continues to strive and make herself better at the game. Fitness is one of the ways to work on her strength and change the T3 position she gained at the Ford Championship to T1 at upcoming events.

Someone else noted how the LPGA star should continue to put effort into her workouts as that is the only way she would get its benefits later on: “Lexi, you’re absolutely right, you got to put forth the effort and then you’ll benefit from it.” Thompson got the chance to compete in the PGA Tour event in 2023, but she sadly missed the cut. She has competed in four events so far in 2024 and has missed the cut in two of them. Doing workouts that would strengthen her muscles and help her get ahead of her injury will ultimately help her on the greens and not miss any more cuts.
