Lee Hodges had his first major appearance at the 2020 US Open at Winged Foot Golf Club. And he qualified after winning the Korn Ferry Tour’s Portland Open. While he was already filled with excitement for the first major championship of his life, the added news of his favorite golfer playing in the same tournament was just the cherry on top.

Hodges revealed in an interview his exhilaration at sharing the same field with his idol. He said, “That’s what I was telling my caddie: If we’re playing the U.S. Open and he’s five shots behind us on Saturday, or, whatever, Friday, and we have to make a quad to play with him, we’re making a quad”. He explained what it meant for the golfer to play the final round alongside Woods. Even if it needed him to drop strokes, he would do so in order to play alongside the 82-time PGA Tour winner. Woods is basically the golf god, so quite certainly even being in his presence is an achievement. Hodges proves that.
