Golfers who compete in different leagues may have a rivalry, albeit an infrequent one. Golfers often compete against one another in the same league or at major tournaments that draw the top players from several leagues, such as the Masters, the U.S. Open, the British Open, and the PGA Championship.
However, after the formation of the LIV Golf in 2021, there have been tensions between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf. While PGA Tour has certainly been against the Saudi-funded league, players have also gotten involved in the feud. The PGA Tour players have also taken their stand against the rival league. While there were tensions between the leagues, it remained a big question whether it will affect the Masters or not. However, it seems that the rival league players have been enough professional and have let the tensions go.

While the Masters 2023 has been full of thrills and disappointments, the ultimate showdown is upon us. The stage is set for a thrilling final round between Brooks Koepka and Jon Rahm on Sunday. The final round of the 87th Masters could prove to be an epic 18-hole dogfight between the American and the Spanish.
The LIV star Koepka is leading the PGA Tour golfer Jon Rahm by 2 strokes. However, Rahm will try to catch Koepka to lift the trophy on Sunday. Rahm, who is attempting to win his win first Masters has revealed his motivation to beat Koepka. That motivation surely is not the rivalry with LIV Golf. While talking before the game, the two-time major winner revealed how much it means to win the Masters and how much he will do to achieve the feat.

Later, the PGA Tour star was asked if Seve Ballesteros’ 40th anniversary of his second Masters victory and what would have been his 66th birthday provides him with some sort of motivation today. The Spanish golfer answered, “I’m hoping. I like to think he’s up there watching and pulling for me. If there is anybody who has enough charisma to have any influence from up above, it would be someone like him. So, with him in my corner, hopefully I’ll get a little bit of extra motivation to get it done.” Despite his opposition to the LIV Golf, Rahm has other sources of motivation. Rather than the PGA Tour-LIV Golf rivalry, Rahm is finding motivation in the late Spanish Masters winner.

Koepka is just 18-holes away from winning his fifth major championship. Koepka will also try to win his first Masters while also giving a push to LIV Golf on a big stage. However, following him is Rahm, who is trailing by two strokes only. Koepka also mysteriously missed a 3-foot par putt on the par-3 17th hole. Otherwise, the four majors winner might have had a far larger advantage.
Following these two on the leaderboard is Norway’s, Viktor Hovland. Hovland is in the third position and trails Koepka by 3 strokes. Standing at fourth is Patrick Cantlay. With a score of 6 under par, Cantlay is one shot ahead of Russell Henley and Hideki Matsuyama, the 2021 Masters champion. The competition for the title has surely heated up. It surely will be a thrilling final to watch.
