When people hear the word ‘golf,’ they immediately think of Tiger Woods. The 47-year-old has played a significant number of tournaments with a good number of wins to his name throughout his golfing career. He is often considered the GOAT for this reason.

However, lately, he has not been active in the sport. The last couple of years haven’t been great for him owing to his struggle with injuries. And now the legend has faced another setback. Some stats show him in a poor light. Let’s dive deeper into the story.

Tiger Woods sixth in the ranking…shocking, to say the least!

Fans and golf observers keep their eyes on the top golfers and their performances. This time, Nosferatu’s Twitter account has revealed shocking statistics. They posted a picture on Twitter with a caption that read: “Stat of the day Players with highest % of Top 10 finishes in Majors in their careers so far. Only still active players were considered. Other than that there were no other restrictions, to keep it fun. If you thought Zalatoris is the most surprising one there, think again… 😜”

In the Twitter post, one can see that the OWGR Guru Nosferatu has ranked the ten best players in the graph based on their percentage of top-10 finishes in majors. The names include Will Zalatoris, Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods, and others. Fans can also see that Tiger Woods, who is considered one of the best golfers, is sitting in the 6th position as his top-10 major finish percentage is more than 40%. He is behind Zalatoris, Scottie Scheffler, McIlroy, Matthew Jordan, and Brooks Koepka!

Many golf enthusiasts, though, will find this intolerable. This is pretty unsettling since supporters do not expect Woods to rank so low in any statistical analysis.

As indicated in the caption, Zalatoris has been ranked #1, having finished in top-10 60% of the time, which may surprise many.

Is it a fair comparison though? What actually put Zalatoris on top?

Although the graph indicates that Woods is 6th in ranking, he has played a whopping number of majors (91) in his golfing career so far. In comparison, Zalatoris is still relatively new on the course and has far fewer major participations than Woods.

If Zalatoris can go on to play as many majors as Woods, there is a strong chance that his percentage will see a drastic decline. Consistency over a long period of time is what has made Woods great.
