It isn’t unseen that the sports world, to date, has its loopholes existing in the face of gender disparities, and now that the discourse has taken a mainstream approach, the voices and opinions about the same have surfaced with a new cadence.

Earlier this morning, in a recent X (formerly Twitter) update, rising golf star Hailey Ostrom shared some news with her followers. Ostrom just hit 100k followers on X, and while thanking her fans, she added, “Thanks for being interested in my opinions and not just my looks or golf swing!”

After the American golfer’s 100k highlight, she shared a real-life sexist experience with her followers dating back to an unnamed mini-tour event. In the tweet, the golfer said, “One time in a mini tour event. We had the whole course for this tourny.”

Elucidating on the information, the golfer added, “A storm came & we had a rain delay. All the girls went inside to wait it out. We found a room w tables/chairs but got kicked out bc it was the “men’s only room”. We were the only ones at the course that day,” she concluded.

Irrespective of all the progress, gender inequality still persists in golf, with a substantial pay gap between men’s PGA and women’s LPGA Tours. Surprisingly, Ostrom’s comment wasn’t the only one in recent months to shed light on the issue! Recently, even a show gained some attention from the LPGA Tour pros because it spoke about the positions of men and women in golf.
