Last August, the European Tour confirmed that there are going to be some changes made to the structure of the Tour. This news made quite a buzz in the golfing world. Now, the Tour has announced a partnership with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and this collaboration between the two might have something new waiting for the fans at the other end.

In the recent series of events, golf news writer Martin Dempster posted the latest golf world update on his Twitter. He confirmed that the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the European Tour group have announced the extension of their long-term partnership. This partnership is there to make sure that the Abu Dhabi Championship will continue to be a part of the DP World Tour for another five years up until 2028.

Dempster’s tweet added, “The Rolex Series event is set to embark on a new era, with a new date and elevated position in 2024.”

The Abu Dhabi Championship is a part of the Rolex Series events, and it is known for its high level of competition and fat purse. As per the reports, starting in 2024, the Abu Dhabi Championship is set to enter a new era with some new changes, which include firstly, a new date for the tournament on the golfing calendar.

Not just this, the tourney will now hold a higher position on the DP World Tour, and this likely means that the Abu Dhabi Championship will hold greater importance in terms of ranking points, prize money, or overall tour standings.
