Is the DP World Tour inheriting the curse of the PGA Tour? The way things are the Omega European Masters it seems the case. Cold and strong winds are affecting the pros quite a lot at the Crans-sur-Sierre GC. While they are competing for the $3.25 million this week, will the weather cause the final round to be delayed?
The weather at the Omega European Masters was already looking tough from the first round. With varying wind speeds between 8 – 15 mph, the condition was cold and tough for the pros to manage.
Witnessing that, Jordan Smith shared a post on X talking about tough weather conditions on Saturday. “The quickest these greens have ever been by far but they still decide to use the same pins as old plus with high winds today. Even with the perfect conditions yesterday a few of the pins were ridiculous,” he said.

Heading into the final round of the tournament, conditions didn’t seem to have improved. The temperature is currently between 13 and 15 degrees Celsius, with wind gusts ranging from 8 to 12 mph. There are also clouds looming over the greens with high chances of rain. To make things worse, there is dense fog which is making it hard to see for the golfers. Despite the conditions, the final round is in process and the DPWT hasn’t said anything about play being delayed or suspended. However, if the dense fog remains, it’s highly likely that the final round might get delayed.

Despite the chilly winds from the first, Matt Wallace fired a 64 in the first round to take full control and take a four-shot lead. Although the weather conditions were more favorable and warm for the pros in the second round, inclement weather came back to hurt the golfers in the third round. Wallace is currently leading the charge and he also talked about the weather.

The Englishman was looking strong to win the $552,500 this week as he shot 64 and 62 in the first and second rounds. Coming to the third he ended up carding a 73 because of the tough conditions. The pro then talked about it and said “Where do I start? Brutal, hard. Really hard. I hit the ball I felt just as good, hit my areas – they were the wrong areas by the looks of it. Some holes like 17 were potentially impossible.”

While talking about it he also pointed out how things got worse in the third round and said “I said the other day it was cold and windy, but that (today) was crazy, that was mental. The greens were fantastic but just really fast as well.” The golfer has yet to play his final round, but do you think it will be postponed before he tees off?
