The Horizon Irish Open is all set to enthrall spectators with its cutthroat competition. The DP World Tour’s event is one of the most illustrious competitions in Europe. There will be 156 players participating in the event at the County Kildare K Club in Ireland.

After his great run in the FedEx Cup Playoffs, Rory McIlroy is back in Ireland to once again claim the title like he did in 2016. In 2016, he snatched victory with a remarkable two-putt birdie on the par-five 16th. And now returning to the tournament once again would be a surreal moment for him. And in the midst of all the competition, the Irishman makes a wholesome revelation.

McIlroy’s emotional boost for the win

McIlroy is enjoying himself well this season. He had outstanding performances in the major championships despite missing the cut in the Masters. He finished second at the US Open, sixth at the PGA Championship, and seventh at the PGA Championship.

When McIlroy won the Scottish Open, he also succeeded in snapping an eight-month winless drought. His performance in the FedEx competitions has also been outstanding. He is a member of the European Ryder Cup team. And now returned to his native land to conquer the trophy? That would be the mindset of the No. 1 golfer on the DP World Tour.

But in a recent press conference, McIlroy also revealed his first win would matter most not to him but to his mom. He said it was his mom’s greatest wish to see him win the Irish Open. “As long as I can remember the only tournament my mum ever wanted to see me win was The Irish Open. So for her to be there and for me to win it, it means a lot to her obviously and a lot to us as a family,” said the Irishman.

Well, will he make his mother’s wish come true again in $6,000,000 event? Only time will tell. But right now, another Irish Open winner is also on the field to claim the title once again. And he is not alone, as he is accompanied by his furry companions.

The Irish Open winner’s lovely companions

2007 Irish Open winner Padraig Harrington is ready to take the field with his skills. For the game, he is paired with Tom McKibbin and Tom Hoge. Harrington’s recent win was in the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open earlier this year.

However, before the tee time, he is relaxing on the course with his dogs, Wilson and Setanta. He has had their ground access cards made. Harrington also met his young friends. Well, Harrington’s companions could boost him to win the trophy once again. McIlroy’s emotional epiphany might potentially spur him to victory.
