With the whole golf world being turned upside down, every golfer can use a reminder of the bigger things that matter. Every athlete plays the sport for his or her love for the sport and, secondly, because of the love that fans shower on them. Fans’ love and appreciation are what keep the players going. Many golfers, such as Brooks Koepka and Jordan Spieth, have proven many times that their fans are very important to them and have engaged jovially with them in the past.

Recently, Koepka had one such appreciative moment with a family of fans that he shared on social media.

It’s been just a few weeks since Koepka became the first LIV golfer to win a major championship. On May 21, at Oak Hill in New York, the LIV star wrote history when he clenched the fifth major title of his stellar career. Good wishes and congratulatory messages poured in from everywhere for the golfer when he won, but to everybody’s surprise, the appreciative words are still coming in for the PGA championship winner.

With things getting heated up due to the latest Saudi and PGA Tour merger, things are pretty tense. But Koepka recently had a heartwarming moment with a fan that might have eased things out a bit.

A fan of the 33-year-old golfer, Marie Bucoy Calavan, posted a message on social media with her family picture at Disneyland. The fan thanked the 5-time major champion for winning, as her husband had placed a bet on him. The fan said that they would not be able to “randomly” take their little girl to the world’s happiest place if it weren’t for Koepka’s win.

The soon-to-be dad shared the fan’s story on his Instagram and wrote, “It’s the people’s championship.” Koepka’s comment shows that golf is all about fans, and it is the fans that play a pivotal role in making the sport what it is.

This is not the first time that the golfer has appreciated a fan during a major tournament. During the Masters as well, Koepka made a 9-year-old little boy’s day with his sweet gesture. As much as golfers love their fans, it can sometimes be a bit overwhelming to address all the love and shouts they receive on the greens.

Koepka shares his thoughts about fans shouting on the course

As per Golf Digest, during the 2023 PGA Championship, Koepka addressed how all the cheers on the greens impact the golfers. Sometimes fans shout out the most absurd things, but this was not the case this year with the LIV golfer. He said that this year he did not hear anything creative or absurd from the fans at Oak Hill. The 33-year-old star golfer said that it is usually the funny or creative things that netizens say that stick out.

For one round, the golfer was paired with his long-term rival, Bryson DeChambeau, giving fans a perfect time to shout out anything, but lucky for them, it was raining, which blocked most of the noises coming from outside the ropes.
