Golf World Reacts to the ‘Newest Member of the Peaky Blinders’ on the PGA Tour

At the 2023 Charles Schwab Challenge, one man has stolen the shot. After the three rounds in Texas, this PGA Tour rookie still manages to sit at the top of the leaderboard. The emergence of the new young talent at Colonial Country Club portrayed the extensive reach of golf. Not only the experts but also the fans couldn’t help but gush over the amazing shots and precise driving of the Cornish golfer.

Despite a few bad strokes here and there, the overall display by the two-time Korn Ferry Tour winner, Harry Hall, on the greens has been conspicuous. The 25-year-old marched stylishly into the field on Friday as a phoenix ready to rise from the ashes. Although stylish isn’t the term one can use only for Hall’s wonderful gameplay, his general appearance and outfit choices have been eye-catching too. Hence, it was not surprising to see people designate a name for his impression.

Fans react to the comparison drawn between the PGA Tour Pro and a famous TV series character

While Hall has not been a popular resident of fame since his entry into the professional game in 2019, the golfer sure won the hearts of the fans at the recent PGA Tour event. Besides his outstanding strokeplay at Colonial, the way the pro dresses and carries himself has been the talk of the golf community.

During a round in Texas, one of the spectators couldn’t help but compare the English golfer to one of the in-vogue characters from the show Peaky Blinders. The PGA Tour’s official Twitter handle also caught the moment and uploaded it with the caption, “Newest member of the Peaky Blinders.” In the video, we can hear someone shout out “Tommy Shelby,” and it is obvious why the resemblance exists. While the character is famous for wearing the classic newsboy or Irish cap, Harry has not been seen much without it.

However, some fans did not like the action of their fellow fans on the greens, and they vocalized the same. The golf audience commented:

“Oh man all these nerds yelling after the shots are cringey. Corny main characters everywhere.”

“Tommy Shelby literally hated golf”

“Needs to work a bit on his golf etiquette, especially with standing still when others are teeing or putting” 

“Americans need to grow up”

“not sure why it makes me mad; but oh does it make me mad”

Despite some of them calling out the bystander, a few fans found the comparison funny and did not hesitate in making their own references or praising the guy who started it. They said:

Well! It appears the fans might associate the two for one more reason. Even though the cap originated in North America, it gained popularity in Europe. Interestingly, both the fictional character Tommy and golfer Harry Halls have their roots in Western Europe.

The Cornish golfer has been earlier also called the doppelganger of a LIV golfer

It can be said that being called Tommy Shelby wouldn’t be the first time the young professional has been compared to someone. Back in 2021, during the Shriners Hospital Open, the PGA Tour rookie was associated with Bryson DeChambeau because of his looks. Dylan Dethier of Golf Magzine tweeted, “Harry Hall looks like Bryson had exactly 30 seconds to put on a costume.”

Even two years later, this comparison stands true, as one of the fans also called the 25-year-old ‘the English Bryson.‘ This implies that the similarity between the two athletes because of their appearance hasn’t really changed at all.

It just proves how every single thing related to the golfers is observed by the fans. While they make comparisons to other athletes or TV series characters based on Harry’s outfit, one thing is clear: the golfer has the attention of the golf world!
