The PGA Tour has not lost its supporters! The men’s golfing body has found its advocate in none other than Padraig Harrington. What’s more, the 52-year-old has come forward to take its side, as accusations of the processes being non-transparent had risen against the golfing body. But, it seems the PGA Tour can rest easy seeing that many still believe in it.

A lot of golfers had earlier sought information regarding the Tour’s investment proposals and the ongoing talks. However, Padraig Harrington came forward to express his opinions regarding the same, all the while comparing the PGA Tour to “American Politics” no less!

Padraig Harrington expresses support for the PGA Tour

The 3X major champ uploaded a post on his X handle, replying to one of Golf Digest’s articles regarding the players’ transparency claims. What’s more, his reply comes following the outcry of around 20 players on the golfing body who went ahead to seek information on the details surrounding the recent talks and investment proposals involving the Strategic Sports Group.

In the tweet that was shared by the senior pro, he came forward to deny the non-transparency claims made by players against the golfing body. And, the Irishman also pointed out how the men’s circuit has “never been more transparent than it is now.” Moreover, the golfer went ahead to compare the PGA Tour with other corporations while stating, “Players have extremely high expectations of the timing and the detail of the information they should receive.” 

Adding on, the 2X Open Championship winner compared the PGA Tour to a transparent society as he said, “The more transparency in a democratic society, the more corruption is labeled at it” while alluding to “American politics.” However, he also made sure to point out the opposite case when “the less transparency in a society the less corruption is seen,” to emphasize the non-corruptive nature of the PGA Tour.

Well, that’s quite an analogy and connection made by the 52-year-old. However, curiosity naturally arises as to why he made such a tweet on his social media handle.

Players seek information on PGA Tour proceedings

Padraig Harrington came forward following the actions of several players on the PGA Tour who went ahead to seek information on the“ongoing negotiations between the board and private equity investors.” What’s more, the letter sent sought to obtain the details by implying how the same can “alter the structure of the PGA Tour and may have a profound impact on the clients’ lives.”

Moreover, Jacob Buchdahl of Susman Godfrey L.L.P. mentioned how a lot of professionals from the men’s golfing body have been kept in the dark regarding the same. And, he went ahead to state how information including it would “impact them, and what conflicts of interest may impact the decision makers” also needs to be revealed to make the PGA Tour more “transparent” in its approach.
